That pop was next level man. I was watching with my brother and a friend from our apartment complex, and we all knew it was Jericho. We still popped like a mother!
The Rock tried his damdest to just torpedo Jericho straight out of the gate. It's no wonder he had to crawl all the way back up out of the midcard after this.
Two of the greatest mic workers of all time. They both had the crowd eating of the palm of their hands this whole segment. WWE at the top of their game here They called Dean Malenko the man of a 1,000 holds. Jericho is the man of 1,000 gimmick updates. He's a genius when it comes to knowing when to change things up with his character to keep himself fresh and relevant. You don't stay over for as long as Jericho has by doing the same thing year after year
Chris Jericho am I opinion is in the conversation for greatest of all time and his debut is definitely in the conversation for number one some people might have Cain as number one but Jericho‘s debut was right up there especially number one and he couldn’t debut in a perfect city, then Chicago that place irrupt it and it’s like fans already knew who he was I’m telling you Jericho had one of the best debuts ever
I'm here because of the WWE top 25 debuts and they have this at a ridiculous number 10 SMH should be top 5 easily and also the signs back then were Epic w c w stands for wheelchair wrestling LOL
For me this was one of the greatest moments of my childhood. As a huge wcw and wwf/e fan at that time I wanted to see Jericho up against the likes of the Rock and Triple H and when this happened I was over the moon. As you see from the reactions that this was easily one of if not thee greatest debut of all time in wwe.
I remember when i went on this year's rager at sea cruise, seeing Chris Jericho in person I had a flashback of the countdown. When i first saw him in person i stood still for a sec and told him that it was a honor meeting him and that he was truly the bitw . Meeting Jericho is a great experience he is a really nice guy. Y2J is the greatest performer alive wrestling and music.
Its been 24 years and I still have goosebumps remembering that moment. The countdown, the lights go out, the music starts and then the roar of the crowd when JERICHO appeared on the titantron.
I remember being in high school, and buying the wrestlenet magazine. I stayed up late, just to see his appearance. I remember reading the rumors that he would be in WWE. It’s kind of funny, buying a newspaper or magazine, just to see if someone was going to make an appearance. Before the Internet. Lol
immediately putting Jericho over as a main eventer in his debut when Goldberg and Hulk buried him. goddamn it if this isn't one of the greatest debuts ever. top 3 for sure.
The Rocks face said it all when Y2J had that pop none of the wwf vets / superstars didn’t liked that Y2J because of this pop like “who is this WCW guy having an ovation like this” 🥴
