Absolutely beautiful bike. Do you have a thought on how much power it puts out? I'm trying to learn all I can about the Honda CB series, and so far I am in my infancy of knowledge on them. I just picked up a 1980 CB650 the other day, and plan to build my dream cafe racer out of it. Main problem is there is next to nothing in the way of performance parts I can find for it. This is a long shot, but do you know if the earlier SOHC CB750 cam would fit into the CB650? I'm sure it would have higher lift and maybe more duration as well, though it may be too long to fit as the engine is wider. Still, I feel that'd be my best shot at getting a "performance" cam for the CB650, short of designing and making a completely custom one. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Dan, Thanks for your kind comments. Re your CB650 challenge, I strongly suggest quizzing the collective on the SOHC forum, a font of knowledge for all SOHC’s. This is a link to a discussion about your bikes performance options. forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=169126.0 As far as my bikes HP output, currently putting out 86bhp, but I’m messing about with cabs at the mo. Good luck with your bike. forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=169126.0
@@ducatiman856 i know this is favourite one. And i also really love honda cb 750 custom cafe racer bike and this is my dream but as of now i am not rich so i am just searching engine of honda cb750 then i will rebuild custom cafe racer my own
The front end is mostly off a Suzi GT750J (72) the 4Tls brakes work very well. The heat dissipation rings or ‘bacon slicers’ are a nod to the old Norton racers. Most of the other spec is listed in the end credits
I had a 76 cb750F with a Mac header on it..one bolt would take off the muffler lol..sounded great to a 17 year old kid!! Paid 795 for that bike..my first loan think it was 65 dollars a month..wish I still had it
Why does inline 4 motorcycle engines sound so good!?!? Be it any old or new. Every inline 4 bike sounds like a race machine. And at idle it sounds like a car engine.
Nice looking bike but my question is: A drum front brake? Also why not go with an RC Engineering Valve Cover (has hold-down bolts to hold the rocker shafts)? It worked good on my 73 with an Action Fours 836cc kit. Really like your exhaust tone.
rayworx - thanks for your comments, very relevant as you have owned a similar bike. 1. Drum brake ? The 4 leading shoe setup in my opinion is at least as effective as the period HONDA disc & calliper system. It’s reliability and appearance is a bonus. 2. The RC cam cover with torque bolts is a great idea for very high compression, CC and higher revving SOHC’s. Not really a requirement for my engine, unless I take her on the track. I’ve not noticed any loss of torque to the cam cap bolts .. yet. I have seen it fitted to track / race bikes not street bikes as yet, worth considering though.
Travis Guidry no I didn’t sell it, I continually modified it to the current version, as seen in my last vid 2 years back. The first exhaust was from Carpy (US) a copy of the old Alpha system.
Travis Guidry this video shows the first incarnation of the bike and it had a stock F2 head and cam at that time. Although the barrels were F1 bored to 836cc. mounted to K6 crank etc
@@ducatiman856 another CB750 I hope! Yeah brother I am completely regretting passing up a 71 cb750k1 in one hundred percent original condition, for 1800! I have been kicking myself in the ass every day since I passed that up, needless to say when I find another I am going to jump on it, but it has to be a 71 cb750k1 or older
Joe Deleon 1,800 !!!! I hope that was many years ago. Are you in UK, coz they are stupid money now. Take a look at my CB Cafe and let me know what you think, I’ll be buried with that one
@@ducatiman856 no brother! it was just last year maybe about six or seven months ago! I know I'm the biggest fucking retard on the planet for letting it go, 1971 candy Garnet Brown all original even the exhausts! 46k miles, it was in LA, I live in Anaheim California, but I know I will find another one, they're always coming up on let-go OfferUp Craigslist etc, and you can get them pretty cheap too
Now that’s a fine buildt Honda. Absolutely fantastic. 👌 One question though, why did you route the hoses for the oilcooler that way instead from the filterbase as the most used way of doing that?
Kasper Kjærsgaard thanks for your comments. The oil hoses are routed to closely replicated the CR, I’m using the CR oil cooler. Also down to my taste, as you say “most people route from the filter”.
Kasper Kjærsgaard - the return simply routes via the oil cooler under the neck, before returning to the tank, hence the visible lines left and right of the engine.
...I have 3 old Triumphs but this industry killer is absolutely a perfection; all parts right; great fabrication; right proportions and stance; right look; character and amazing sound like F1. A keeper
John Meurer : absolutely correct, that’s why I de-tuned the engine to low comp’ 836, and put those PD’s on .... for street use. I would have fitted my spare CR’s if competing
