Ok I feel like if the Americans wanted to join the war they should have done it earlier because they were only in France for a few months, I'm not saying that it was a bad thing that America joined the war, just saying that they probably should have done it earlier when the allies were more desperate (1916). The Americans would've stood beside many men just as brave as them, survivors from the Somme, Passchendaele, Gallipoli, Verdun, and many other battles throughout WW1

I like the friendship that evolved between the Russian and the American pilot. For what it's worth, I have yet to find an anti-American Soviet-era film where they are seen as pure evil or cold-hearted capitalists except in Soviet-made animation. Whereas many Western films portray the Soviets as one-dimensional communist caricatures.
Great story, stupid film badly made and poorly cast. All that money for a very precious subject wasted. And an especial RIP for Charles Whittlesey, who threw himself off a ship in 1921, and was unable, or unwilling, to swim to Cuba.
This film definitely has a lot of flaws, but considering it's a fairly low-budget production, they did a really good job, especially when you look at the quality of other Great War films made at or around the same time.
