When i went to see Ted Nugent in Denver 77' i was just off stage left & Derek was singing & playing in the shadows back by the stacks, out of the spotlight when he was doing 2/3 the heavy lifting. Ted was just for flash. Derek was the real show.
Spent last weekend with Derek, Dave, and John at the Juke Joint festival in Clarksdale, MS. They are the most talented and nicest people one could ever meet. They played at Ground Zero Blues Club and it was MAGICAL. SOOO GOOD.
Derek! you were a great force behind the Nuge!.. Sorry Nuge never gave his band the recognition that they deserved, .... All our Nuge fans really know you made Ted who he is today ... Ted is still a kick-ass, but Derek... You are awesome!... :)
First concert I ever went to was Sammy Hagar opening for Ted Nugent, As soon as Ted got on the stage I realized that Ted was not singing, I was pretty disappointed. Now I can't help but wonder what VanHalen would sound like if Derek took over for DLR. BTW Sammy blew the doors off of Ted Nugenty that night.
One of the five best guitar solos ever, by anyone. This was shot from the perspective I usually have when I see them. Ty's side, darn close. Seen them 15 times since 1990, in three different states. I'm kinda a fan.
First off, this rocked out. But, they didn't use the C9sus4 chord, and just played the straight up C major chord in the verses. Inside baseball stuff i know, but that specific sus4 chord gave the riff a truly roaring sound. That said, this kicked ass anyway. RIP Ronnie.
