What is the set he plays? Tune names? I went to a workshop with Alasdair in 2009 and he played a similar set but I don’t have the names of the tunes. Thanks foe any help.

I could never understand why people go and watch such an Excellent Piper as Fred Morrison then, sit and Chit Chat all the way through his performance. Extremely Rude. Only in America, as they so often say.

A fake electric sound, with a master musician, on real pipes. I don't like electric chanters. They are fake. If you play the pipes, you know about reeds, and pressure, and balance, and how you need to squeeze hard sometimes, and softly others... so much feeling goes into real pipes. This electric, is just monotone uniform robotic shit, with no feeling in it. Not impressive, (just fingering) and shouldn't be encouraged. might as well play a computer game. NO

I like to now what instrument this is called, because I want to play 'in house' instead of my highland pipes, but with the same colour of sound, other than the most small pipes sound.So, my question is about the chanter especcially.... BTW, seen Fred live some years ago in Belgium, what a player.........feld the emotion when he played Hector the Hero..

I think ?I found the answer in post below... Lowland pipes is the right term including the chanter sound?
@PPDpiper

They are actually called border pipes however the ones that he is playing are Reelpipes which are border pipes but are made by him and Mccallum pipes. Fantastic sound ! They are expensive but well worth the money.

Not Reba writing this statement. What in the world is the BIG DEAL!!! What would this area of Idaho or anywhere else in the world for that matter put up with like they get in northern Japan. Three to four city buses in height stack upon one another in snow amount year after year. You don't believe me? Look up snow removal in Japan on RU-vid or the internet. The snow there in northern Japan is mostly from water moisture picked up by winds between China and Japan over the Sea of Japan and is dumped in the higher elevations of northern Japan. This snowfall amounts rivals what Mt. Baker, Washington got in the winter of 1998-1999. 1140 INCHES OF SNOW that winter season at Mt. Baker only over 95 FEET of snow. I'am not one of those crybabies that complain about "high" seasonal snowfall amount of 95 inches here where I live in Michigan. I have health issues like Immunoglobulin Deficiency that I should not go outdoors at all in winter. But if I have to I will. My skiing days are all but over. That's what life gave me. Gary

I watch the look on his face while he plays and I cant help but wonder whats going around in the head whiles hes playing. I wonder if its like me and concentrating on the music scared id miss a few notes or if hes just relaxing thinking about his dogs and mowing the grass? He plays amazing and looks so calm for all those notes bouncing around in there.

Scott Stanton I always wonder that with the greats as well, some of them look so absent minded, very chilled out - McGoldrick etc it makes it all the more amazing what they can do

I think it’s a look of concentration. I remember being in high school and someone grabbed me off the street to play at his wedding party. Afterwards someone told me girls were dancing naked in front of me…I didn’t notice.
