Most of my VHS tapes are from the great states of Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. Cities like Portland, Oregon,Seattle Washington and the San Fransisco Bay Area also make appearances.
You will also find many commercials from the great city of Chicago! Enjoy!
Was the film shot natively in 4:3 aspect ratio? In all of the widescreen / digital releases, you can't see Johnny's arm past his elbow in this scene. Does this mean the VHS release actually has more viewable content compared to a traditional pan-and-scan?
This was filmed back in 1994, well before this kind of speech had been noted much. When you did encounter it back then, it was strictly among young people, under 25 or so. At least that was how I remember it in New England at the time, not very prevalent at that point. I've read it started on the West Coast, LA area and slowly spread out from there by the 1970s. If you listen to these examples, the college students, you'll notice their 1994 version of up-talk is decidedly more muted usually than what you'd expect today. I didn't really start noting this kind of speech until the mid-2000s.
I remember this back when I was a stupid kid. I really thought there was a giant grizzly bear in the middle of the ride and at some point you go into it's mouth. I was so disappointed when I actually saw it. I was like "Where's the bear?" So disappointed I didn't even ride it.

I have never heard of this until now. Ending every sentence as if it were a question or some uncertainty. Vocal fry I've heard of and it makes me cringe. Now I'll be paying more attention to how people speak...and myself!
