If you love rock music and guitars hooked up to massive amps, this is the channel for you. I'll be doing covers, how too vids and possible gear reviews.
Looked up every piece of equipment, took screen shots and saved it. This is a MUST and a new project for me 😂 b back in about 6 months when I have it all. Awesome video, you rock 🤘🤘🤘
Interestingly enough I called Beachtek, I bought the DXA-Max. Told the man I was using it for recording guitar amp speakers. He said the speaker had so much output maybe I’d need their attenuator. For $39 can’t go wrong. Boost signal lower signal. Covered. Then I bought a pair of SM57’s and XLR cables that have 3.5 male ends. Hope it works because I really don’t want an interface or have to use my computer at the recording phase
I like your video and your direct approach. I’m actually buying this pre amp because you sold me on it more than anyone else demonstrating this. I’ve been looking for something to make my audio sound better. I bought a few shotgun mics, boom stands, assorted cables, cold shoes etc. this will close the loop and step up my game. 👍 Thanks 🙏
I played lead guitar in a band 7 or 8 years ago and wanted to play this song very close to the original. I only ever found power chord versions on the internet, except yours! I also had various discussions with my band colleagues who said it wasn't right... Maybe it is in relation to the studio recording, but live your version is very close to Charlie Burchill's. Have a look at the last recording of Simple Mind on BBC's Later with Jools Holland. He plays almost the same line there. So, you did a really good job and you inspired me a lot back then, thank you for that! Thumbs up and I've subscribed to the channel.

yeah I read he had a lee jackson rig at the time also had a Marshall Jubilee in the studio for some tracks. Dont forget how multi tracked they are I assumed some of the chorus effect was down to that
Marshall Jcm 800 type amps for less than 2k. Guy that helped design the JCM 800 and started his own amp company Albion Tct 50 or Tct 100 Picked one of these up at a guitar center for $350 Killer amp form Plexi to 80's modded Jcm 800. Also Lee Jackson who modded almost all the LA shredders amps Dokken , Ratt. Ozzy, ect.ect.started his own amp company Xls 500 or xls1000 Zakk played the Lee Jackson Metaltronix M1000 amp on No rest for the Wicked.
I commend you for not buying a ton of special gear but instead, you put time into working through your obstacles by using your existing gear. It's a lesson I wrestle with, myself. Case in point, chasing Hendrix and his 700 different tones.
Good demonstration and tutorial, enjoyed it! Your playing sound pretty good. By the way, regarding your comment at 4:00 about Aimee Mann sounding like dogshit when playing it live, I would agree the original is better sounding. However, she originally played bass (listen to the bassline on the song; it ain't too bad) and she has said in interviews it's just way more convenient to play guitar when she is also singing the song. And from what I understand, Robert Holmes, the original 'Til Tuesday guitarist, is a pretty impressive guitar player and perhaps Aimee Mann can't play what he did while singing simultaneously. Regardless, I think there are adaptations that many musicians have to make when playing live vs. in the studio.
I have a question… I wanna do my pedalboard, but i dont have FX LOOP, can i connect my guitar-wah-SD1-distortion-chorus-delay-amp clean?? For this sound.
Awesome video bro! I get pretty close to the sound using my Odin Grail 🎸 and my boss 50MKII through the librarian app I’ve dialed it in pretty solid so for a in house amp it is possible to get very close if you use the right set ups with out pedals and all that imo.
Best version of tyhis song that is 'publicly available' is on the Live In The City Of Light album, live in Berlin. Has the more distorted sound plus Charlie's guitar really comes through whereas it's a bit lost on the album track
