The Choir of Somerville College, Oxford was founded in 2001. The choir sings in chapel during term and performs in concerts organised by Somerville Music Society. From 2007 until 2015 the choir was conducted by David Crown, assisted by Robert Pecksmith (Organ Scholar) and Stefan Schwarz (Choir Manager). In recent years the choir has toured Germany and Italy and sung at Worcester, Southwark, Winchester, Blackburn, Wells and St Paul's cathedrals. In 2010 the choir appeared in a memorial concert for Iris Murdoch and gave a performance of Tavener's 'Song for Athene' in the presence of the composer. In 2011 and 2014 Somerville Choir sang Bach's St John Passion. The choir has released two albums on the Stone Records label. In summer 2014 the Choir of Somerville College toured the USA, singing at Washington National Cathedral and other venues in DC, Delaware and and Massachusetts.
I listen so offten Pie Jesu, and other “classic” music, and please enjoy this when you are alive, not when you hear it on somebody’s funeral !!! That’s my opion 🙏🏻

Absolutely horrible...who is that soprano soloist and whoever thought she could carry such a subtle soprano solo in this piece? Definitely NOT English church music.
The first time I heard this was at Traditional Latin Mass. it was during “The prayers at the foot of the altar” and the choir was in the back of the Church. I nearly cried.

Der Herr soll mein Hirte sein?. Er soll mich auf einer grünen Aue weiden, bin ich eine Kuh? Er soll mich zu frischem Wasser führen, aber dafür muss ich bezahlen. Er soll meine Seele erquicken. Wie denn, bei all dem Chaos, all der Gewalt, der Kriege und all der Hetze unserer Tage? Wenn er mich auf rechter Straße führt, bin ich ein Nazi. Und das um seines Namens willens, na toll!. Und wenn ich im finsteren Tal wandere, soll ich kein Unglück fürchten, weil er angeblich bei mir ist und sein Stecken und Stab mich trösten sollen. Ich kann mir aber von seinem Stecken und von seinem Stab nicht allzuviel zu Essen kaufen und für'ne Bahncart reicht's auch nicht. Er bereitet vor mir einen Tisch im Angesicht meiner Feinde. Welcher Feinde eigentlich? Die Russen, die AfD, die Ampel oder die kriminellen ausländischen Messerstecher? Er soll meinen Kopf angeblich mit Öl salben, was für ein Öl? Olivenöl, Sonnenblumenöl, Motoröl oder was? Er will mir voll einschenken Was will er mir voll einschenken? Saft, Wein, Schnaps oder Bier? Will er mich besoffen machen? Kennt er nicht die Folgen von Alkoholmissbrauch? Gutes und Barmherzigkeit sollen mir folgen mein Leben lang und dafür soll ich immerdar im Hause des Herrn bleiben. Wozu? Als Sklave, als Diener, als Sexspielzeug? Nee, Herr Dingsbums, da suche dir mal schön jemand anderes, auf sonen Scheiß habe ich keinen Bock, ich gehe lieber ganz normal arbeiten für mein Geld.
