Hey there Donal, this was nice and restful to listen to - it's nicely transcribed from piano. It's interesting that you had 2 clefs devoted to violas - were you after a particular tone colour? Also, did you use SWAM to render your composition?
Thanks. :) I guess I like to bring out inner voices and harmonies, the piece was written in a lower register of the piano, and I like the warm, alto intonation of violas. However, when I redo the piece I think I'll use the more conventional two violin and one viola sections. I love the concept of physical modeling that Pianoteq and SWAM (AudioModeling.com) use, but I'm a Linux guy and SWAM instruments have been available only for Windows or MacOS. However, I recently learned of a way to use Windows VSTs in Linux using Wine and yabridge, so I purchased the SWAM string sections and am eager to redo this brief piece using the SWAM instruments as a learning experience. For this video I used MuseScore 4 to notate the piece and rendered it using MuseScore's orchestral libraries.
