The first time I watched this video a few years ago, I didn't know who Ronan was. The first minute or so I thought to myself "His poi are so long, how can he do anything but basic moves?" and "His style is nice but he lacks complexity and diversity in his moves" and then the beat dropped and I was blown away! I love how his performance slowly builds and builds and builds into a crescendo. It's something I've started to incorporate into my own performances. I used to just go all out immediately but now I'm starting to understand build up and tension and release, of which Ronan is truly a master. He knows how to entertain a crowd for sure. After learning who Ronan truly was - the man who INVENTED contact Poi, I look at my first impression of him as naive and childish
I've been coming back to this video time and again for 5 years now to pick up on techniques. His isolations are spectacular especially considering he spins with arm length leashes. Check out his TED talk - Learning to Learn. What a POI legend. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LYlRIbOnhos.html
I really enjoy watching this fire spin. sparkling fire is one of the coolest effects, I wonder how amazing it felt to wield that. maybe one day I could experience it. This video is very inspiring and thanks for sharing your awesomeness.
Hi Slashkun, thanks a lot for recording our first time playing the duet! Is it possible to send me the video by wetransfer please si I can have it on my computer? Here is my email: nawal.guerbaoui@gmail.com Thanks again!! Much love, Nawal.
This is definitely not Lycopodium powder. Lycopodium powder quickly ignites leaving a big fire trail. The chemical used in this video is Titanium Hydride Powder, commonly used in fireworks. I strongly recommend against using Lycopodium powder on regular fire poi, there are props designed specifically for use with this powder. Please be sure to research and test any of these chemicals before following someone's suggestions.
Whilst this was on I was having some time out on my own sitting up at the lonely tree...I heard it clear as a clear thing and imagined it all the way through...Lovely stuff...x
