I agree, the UK punishes people that work hard that seek freedom and ability to determine their own lifestyle. The government have sought to tax the entrepreneurial and totally destroyed a person's ability to work on their own terms. Seeking to chain them to an employer and make it impossible to move on. One more I'd mention is the toxic environment in the UK. Generally the people. The people in workplaces that subscribe to the dictatorial mindset. Where the government have made people's life a misery moreso where you actually have people that use it to make you feel more trapped. The mobility to live life flexibly is not allowed. It's gor much worse after covid. The attitude of those towards workers has decreased job security. It also seems at every turn the UK seeks to relieve you of hard earned money like no other place. Everything has a price tag however the available money to pay just is not feasible. This leads to the feelings of being trapped in a cycle of debt. I call it the debt cycle. It has become increasingly worse over the last 25 years. The debt cycle is where quality of life is being diminished by simply living. You're trying to escape it, but there is always something else that keeps a person trapped. I call it the debt cycle, the cycle of debt that someone is always owed something.
@mrdamianking
@mrdamianking 8 дней назад
The U.K. government doesn’t want entrepreneurs; they want conformers who say nothing and pay their taxes like good little workers Thankfully there are enough options to escape the rat race. And if planned well enough, escape the U.K. altogether. The easiest way to escape the debt cycle is to not have debt. Don’t live beyond your means and invest wisely. Even then the government don’t make it easy.
@James-tk9to
@James-tk9to 8 дней назад
@mrdamianking the big one is mortgage debt. I've always had a suspicion that debt is a form of bondage. The worst being taxes. The mortgage is usually people's biggest outgoing. I believe the days of people using their mortgage as positive income is over. There were lots of policy changes relating to self employment around 2018 in the public sector and more lately the private sector deferred by covid by one year to 2021. To say life has become unbearably expensive would be an understatement. The tax regime goes after anyone that's worked hard and sought to be independent from reliance on public funds. Hence, the landlord exodus to escape punitive taxes to make owning property a burden not a benefit. The cost of living is eye watering. The things that used to be free in public ownership are now monetized. The trend of the van life culture is a kind of halfway house to the ex pat lifestyle to leaving the country by plane. Its a signal for me that people are checking out and resetting their life path. The root is a debt ridden society. The UK government decision to pay everyone's salary will almost certainly lead to widespread poverty in the UK. Living costs are rising in spite of inflation and salaries have stayed low - which has been the case for nearly 25 year's. There is massive inequality. People that were born since the mid 1970s have had it very hard. For example, I met an ordinary maintenance worker born in the 60s living in a £1M house next-door to lawyers, bankers etc that's mortgage free, gold plated public final salary pension (since abolished and no longer exists). As he said, he looks at the younger fella in the exact sane position as himself, living in rented property and don't get the overtime he got - double time ...treble time ...that was the difference and made him being able to provide for his family. Wealth inequality is a major issue. There is no discernible difference between himself and the younger fella. It is driving factor for people to check out. The level of debt that people fund to live is mindless. I know that something is going very wrong in society. When you see young graduates with up to £200k in debt you realise there is absolutely no chance for them. You say be debt free but simply living or striving it is impossible to avoid it. I agree as a proposition the UK no longer is viable. The opportunity for public authorities to relieve you of your money is too widespread.

@mrdamianking do you have any tips or practical advice on how to exit the UK, with a view never to return other than short visits? I suppose at some point you have to have a foundation for example around late 30s to early 40s reasonably fit and healthy and have a good 20 years of work behind you. I agree the days of working in a toxic environment for an a***hole of a boss and people that p*ss you off are gone. Freedom is most definitely the currency but I think that only applies to those that have planned for it. If you're a young family, have personal debts, and school going children, with only one parent working, it must be very hard to think of moving. The freedom to choose is I think for someone that is single no ties and has lived in a way that leaves the door open to leave the UK. I think it's a great option if you have planned for it, and probably suits a man than a woman. I think after 50...60...it would be much more difficult to sustain, and I am thinking about the long game too, as everyone is getting older.
@mrdamianking

@James-tk9to it’s something I get asked a lot. Yes, I agree it’s easier for some people than others. But it depends on several factors, the main one being - how much do you want change? And what are you willing to sacrifice in order to make change happen? Consequently, there is a question I’d pose, which is a question a mentor of mine posed to me back in 2005 when I quit my corporate career, and it changed my outlook on life, even to this day - Will more of what you already have make you happy? If the answer is no, you have some big decisions to make.

When you understand that the UK is not a country but the biggest tax haven gateway for companies to park up their wealth in offshore islands you will understand where the wealth in the economy emanates from. It's not the working class native population, but foreign interests. Big creditors that own the Bank of England stay anonymous because they are running down the economy like they have been doing since the fall of the Roman Empire. Like a sponge they absorb all the wealth and leaving us all dry via usury. The reason why UAE can offer 0% tax is because they have state owned oil companies and they control everything. In the UK we control nothing.

The parent issue is a hard one. Sadly, I don’t have any, so it’s not something I’ve been faced with. That said, I firmly believe that a decent parent would want the best for their child. Don't blame you. UK is a failing society. The third world has been imported there bringing there backwards cultures, crime, attitudes, over population and even illnesses. The greed of councils have killed most small towns as no one English can afford to open a business. High parking charges then put anyone off going there to shop. Everywhere is over crowded and uncomfortable to be. The beautiful countryside is being obliterated to build ugly high density housing estates. Crime is on the rise due to so many criminals moving into the country and the police being lazy and cowardly. The government are turning the country into 1984 with more and more restrictions and controls on our lives. Our infrastructure is crumbling as the country is over populated but still the councils are all in debts so don't have enough money to fix anything to keep up with the strain of the population explosion. Government and mainstream media seem to actively hate anything traditionally English so people are made to feel ashamed of their heritage. No social cohesion anymore due to globalization and multiculturalism. Divorce is sky high and houses are almost impossible to afford (once again thanks to immigration over populating the country) so it's hard to have any ambition to settle down and start a family in a nice home as it seems impossible.
