paintkiller93 Glad you like it. I've transited through LAX a couple of times, and had a business trip recently where I had a layover of a couple of days. Went to Griffith Obsevatory and Disneyland, but that was about all we had time for.
Did you not know you could have seen a dentist in NYC? They take credit cards for payment. Sure it would have cost you something like 3 to 4 hundred dollars but wouldn't a temporary crown have been worth it? (In Florida it would have cost less than 200, but NYC is expensive) BTW thanks for the fun Vid!
+Bob Speigel We thought about seeing one, but wasn't sure what it would cost and the travel insurance company said they wouldn't cover it because she wasn't in pain. The exchange rate between the US and Australia was a bit of a factor too. If it had been a big issue we'd have sorted it out, but she insisted it wasn't a problem. Glad you liked the video, people seem to enjoy them a lot more than I expected.
I was born in NYC, lived in there and the suburbs, until i was 29. Then I moved to FLORIDA and if I didn't still have family there I would never ever go back. So to answer your question about my favorite part of NYC the answer I love leaving the place. :)
Hi, I have questions if don't mind me answering. How much is the rent of that place ? And the location of that place ? And from where someone has to book it if anyone want to do so ? Thanks Keep uploading amazing videos. :)
***** Hi, don't mind at all. The place was about $US120 a night, which was pretty good considering all the space we had to ourselves. It's in Upper Manhattan so it takes a little while to get downtown, but the subway's pretty close and most places in Manhatten are within 30 minutes or so. We found the studio on airbnb and were really happy with it. There's cheaper places, and more expensive places, it depends on what your taste it. I'll send you a message with a link to the studio, so you can see exactly where it is. Glad you like the video, I'm working on a couple more at the moment, it's just hard to get them done with work to go to.
+CEE EMM The place was on Convent Avenue near 145th street. I can't see it listed on airbnb any more, but there's a lot of other great places to stay around there too.
Sean Trusty I've got some general ideas of what I'd like to do, but it seems this year a lot of my annual leave will be taken up by a family trip to New Zealand. So it looks like trips around Australia and back to the US of A will have to wait a while.
Oh, we got to a lot of other places in the city too. It's just that almost everything it much cheaper in the US of A than Australia. I paid a full 30% less for the stuff I bought this day than I would have in Australia. No joke.
My mom worked for Century 21 since the 1980s here in southern California up until the 2008 market crash. Our family's income went from $300,000 a year to like $30,000 a year. :/
Hi! I really enjoyed your videos about America. I'm glad you had a nice time! Please come again! Richard: Electronics! GoPro! Shelley (sp?): Healthy food! Your questions: Have you been to NYC? If so, favorite place? Answer: Yes. I have a brother who lives there - Upper West Side to be exact, a block away from Central Park. My favorite place probably be Lincoln Center. Other favorites would be intersection of 5th Ave. & Broadway (people watching) and an ice cream parlor named Big Gay Ice Cream Shop in West Village.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I've got another video almost done, hopefully I'll get it out within a week. And we're definitely hoping to get back to America again sometime. The Lincoln Centre looks pretty cool. Would have been nice to see something there. Maybe next time. And ice cream shops are always a good bet. Might have to have a look at that one if I ever end up in that neighbourhood.
Ellenborough falls would be a great place to film. Spectatular water fall and great walking track. The Comboyne mountain is a truly majestic place with great vistas. Cheers Jen
We got up to a couple of waterfalls that holiday, I'm sure one of them was Ellenborough Falls. It was really nice, though we didn't go the bottom of the fals (if it's the one I'm thinking of).
Thanks Chris. I figure that it makes it more engaging than just seeing images that have no meaning to anyone other than me. I think it gives some context.
Yeah, we got to see a lot of America, spent about a month there all up. Boston, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Denver and Boulder, Washington state and San Francisco. There's still so much more I'd like to see though. I'm working on the other video's but don't have a huge amount of spare time with work at the moment.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. So many America trip videos are exactly alike; New York, Vegas, LA, Orlando....and don't get me wrong, those are amazing places, but the US is infinitely more than just those few cities. I'm glad to hear you saw some of the rest. Nice video, by the way. It was refreshing to hear you narrating, and not a collection of hip-hop or techno songs like some others.
Yeah, I wanted to get out and see the whole country, not just the cities. We didn't get to drive through as much of it as I would have liked, but we got to see some smaller places like Spokane and Owatonna. I figure that the somewhat strange narration makes it worthwhile watching and gives some context. Otherwise it's just random clips. It's not like it's exciting extreme sports or something, so I have make it different to make it interesting.
Hey Aneisha, thanks. I think it turned out ok, just wanted to put something together for friends and family overseas on Christmas. Was good to be back in Perth for Christmas, it gets pretty warm huh?
@fullfacility I tend to agree with you concerning most American's belief about winning the Second World War by themselves, but I tend to place a fair portion of the blame for that on their movies that portrey them as the saviours of the world. I am very proud of the contributions that Australia made during both World War's, especially in North Africa and the Mediterranean; but also defending Australia from invasion from the North as the Japanese came down.
You're definitely not an oddity! What happened there and in WW11 generally is as much a part of Australia's history as ours given the major contribution and sacrifices your country made. No doubt all American's think they invented the computer as well as winning the war single-handedly, so let's hope that more people become aware of B.P. and it's critical contribution.
@fullfacility No offence taken; I am something of an oddity. Not only am I, as you put it, a young person taking an interest in a rather facinating but unknown piece of world history; but I am an AUSTRALIAN who takes an interest... Can't say I know of any of my friends who even know about Bletchley Park and what happened there.
I hope this doesn't sound condescending, but it's nice to see a young person taking an interest in this very important subject, and one which still isn't fully appreciated for it's unique place in history.
