Israel, Sweden and EBU wrecked Eurovision- thank you for making this documentary. #LoveAlwayswins. Eurovision is all about bringing people together. 2024, swedish media, EBU and Israel pushed the fans away and brought the festival in disapute. Joost was the victim in this. Joost is neurodivergent like me so i stand with Joost. Israel is a massive bully
WE ARE NOT OWED THE IDENTITY OF THE CAMERAPERSON And I say this as a Dutch person who was very upset about the disqualification and is of the conviction that Joost should be the opening act of the ESC next year, but the identity of the cameraperson should remain a secret. Ideally, with this altercation, Joost should have been as well while the police investigation ran. The fact that he was not (due to the EBUs insane actions), does not allow the other person to become known to 'the general public'. In that case she will get hate mail, threats and everything nasty because so many people, myself included, have chosen side with Joost. As much as I disagree with her actions, this is between her, Joost (and crew) and the EBU/ESC organistion and thus should not have a public awareness of any kind. The same can not be said about the EBU. They are the public cause and they deserve the hate, the booos (the oh so many booos), and the consistent demands to correct their horrible behaviour. Joost mentioned the company (not specific) but we all know the main sponsor was Maroccan Oil aka Israeli company! A different aspect that followed this was Germany and having border controls, Europapa was all about the open borders. All this is more complex and deeper, connected to European nationalism, colonialism, capitalism, etc.

I feel like I really get the headspace Joost might've been in after watching it, I can relate to some of his mannerisms (e.g. the headphones, and the flag covering his head might've been a statement but it also looks very soothing to me, especially if he does it a lot in other contexts too). May I offer some constructive criticism? Or maybe just a personal opinion regarding the photos and stock footage you use. I find it a bit distracting and at points I was confused as to whether the footage was actual footage of the happenings in Malmö or not. At first i thought the three peeping clowns you showed were real - that one was probably on me 😂 I get that you're setting the scene, but your narration is good enough to do that on its own in my opinion! And the pictures that actually show things that happened, the screenshots of messages, the photos of Joost and translations of the Israeli delegations posts - all of that is amazing! As I said, it might just be me, in any case this was a great video ♥️
With this case, the EBU has established absolute power over all contestants in the contest: they have shown a willingness to disqualify without proper grounds and without willingness to view incidents from each side. This may make it so much more difficult for people to speak up. I fear for contestants' rights to freedom of speech.
As a huge dutch eurovision fan, we should stay away next year from the event. I would like to see our broadcaster make sure that things, protecting the artists and getting rid of double standards, actually change before we start thinking about participating again.
He should have been disqualified after this interview anyway - 03:09 I wouldn't want him or anyone who makes such threats anywhere near the attending audience.
There were entries that harassed people behind the scenes and on tv and they didn't even get a warning but an interview is what should get someone disqualified? Lol
@@bunnywarI absolutely agree that the EBU should've done something about the Israeli delegation and fans harassing other artists. The EBU should've never let Israel into the 2024 contest. But even implied bomb threats should absolutely be taken seriously. Maybe he didn't even realise that's how his comment could be interpreted, but it is very chilling.
What I find interesting is that the EBU said on May 11th that it would be inappropriate for Joost to participate due to the crime investigation. Now they say that the crime investigation had nothing to do with their decision to disqualify him. This on it's own suggests that he was disqualified for weird reasons.
I think we know everything that ws will ever know anything about this situation ant this will be talked about for years to come and this contest as a whole will probably be talked about for a long time as one of if not the most controversial Eurovision Ever

He didn't give consent to be filmed, and Avrotros says they even made a specific agreement about when and where Joost would be filmed. They weren't supposed to film him in that moment. And he repeatedly said stop filming too. His reaction of pushing down the camera sounds like a survival instinct/reflex to me because his boundaries were violated. And Joost is also neurodivergent, they are more sensitive about personal boundaries compared to neurotypical people. Disqualification was an extreme decision over an incident like this
I always believed the moment this happened Israel delegation did play a role in some way. I believe EBU wanted to get rid of him because he was too honest and they were afraid he would speak up more during interviews or even at the show. Also this happened after EBU found out that Israel won the televote of Italy in the second semi-finale. I believe that they just used the situation with that camera woman as a way to get rid of him without involving Israel in it because that obviously would make even more angry. EBU wants our country to participate and I do believe they will even though the people right now feel like we shouldn't because next year Israel will still be there and to be honest I do not think the situation will be much different inn 2025. We do not want to risk to be disqualified again but we also don't want to pretend nothing is wrong haha and I do not hate Israel by the way before anyone immediately screams nazi. We can not ignore how weird this was and the only happy group were the Israeli people when he was disqualified because they were already demonizing him purely because he was honest, because after all Israel is in a certain situation that can not be ignored. Also they should never let that woman film again and I say this as a woman. if she get traumatized because a camera fell out of her hands because he didn't want to filmed then I am sorry you should not be there filming to begin with. She was allowed to film people without their personal permission yet his wishes somehow didn't matter at all, yet she is the victim purely because he showed his limits. EBU showed that they do not have a safe place for the artists and neither for fan media. They do protect Israel delegation at all cost though. Indeed it was never shared who she was so how did she receive hate messages?. Unless it actually was that Israeli woman that received messages on TikTok, but that wasn't the same person I assume. It was a Swedish woman they said. So they are lying anyway which is part of the problem. They act like people are stupid. In fact I think Joost needs to heal from this whole event more than that woman needs to. Because nobody knows who she is aside from the insiders. Lots of people know Joost and he was looked at being a beater or abuser for quite a time until more information came out which took an awful lot of time. He was just a danger to EBU because he is not fake, but he is honest haha.
I believe the press conference after the 2nd semi-final was just a bit after the incident that led to the disqualification. I hope EBU / Eurovision take care of the artists next year better so they don't have the stuff going on at this year.
