Efterklang's new album 'Things We Have In Common' is out September 27th on City Slang!
The experimental Danish art pop/indie-rock group Efterklang emerged in the front half of the 2000s with an enchanting blend of atmospheric pop and lushly arranged orchestral rock elements. Efterklang formed in December 2000 when childhood friends Casper Clausen (vocals), Mads Brauer (computer), and Rasmus Stolberg (guitar) -- all three having recently moved to Copenhagen from the tiny Danish island of Als -- joined musical forces with pianist Rune Mølgaard and drummer/trumpeter Thomas Husmer. From the start, the band members took a D.I.Y. approach to their music, handling all aspects of songwriting, recording, and production in their Copenhagen practice space. Efterklang found an audience, especially in Europe, after releasing their first two albums on England's the Leaf Label; the attention led to a deal with 4AD. The band has recorded five studio albums and are currently signed to City Slang.

I watched/listened to you the other day together with the Makedonium band at MКC, and this song now has a DIFFERENT meaning for me. I am beginning to understand the connection between THAT journey of yours, the upcoming album "Things we have in common" and the need to reach for collective spirituality and belonging. It is a circle!
I've watched this video more than a hundred times. And it's been 16 years since watching it for the first time. I never liked the video nor the song. Yet, ever since watching it for the first time, I keep coming back to watch it, because I like the feeling and weird discomfort the video and music create...
Get a flatbed electric lorry. Make a stage on it. 3:50 Drive through that forest while performing your 2024 album. Light that section up in fairy lights. The crowd will follow you, along with shadows. Easy cheap video.
I try to avoid hearing 'singles' before the album they're destined for. Couldn't resist this. Wow. Fckin' cool song. I'm a big Efterklang fan, and this album could be their Joshua Tree.
“The video is an homage to the choir who are featured on ‘Animated Heart’ and have given us so many unforgettable musical memories. Inspired by the scenes of ticket lines in Jem Cohen’s Fugazi documentary, we met with the choir to film the video on May 29, 2024. We are honoured to have the choir featured in the song and video, and we are inspired by the hope they bring for the future." ‘Animated Heart' ft. Sønderjysk Pigekor (South Denmark Girls' Choir) is taken from the new album 'Things We Have In Common', out September 27th on @CitySlang. Listen/pre-order: Efterklang.lnk.to/TWHICYD
This is so heartwrenching beautiful. Just spend focus for some silent seconds on anybody's natural looking face and you find pure humanity inside yourself.
