And then it all went pear shaped when his dad got banged up for murder. You do wonder what path his career might have taken had that not happened. His dad owned a string of sex shops in the westend. Weird family. He used to live near one of my mates. He was always driving around in one of those souped up not very good cars. I always thought he was a complete loser. Another understatement! Then 14 year old Ronnie finishes a 75 break against a 24 year old opponent Steve Ventham. Also this started with 2000 snooker players from 125 clubs ending in 8 players left to play. A great achievement to get to the last 8. 👏 Ronnie was playing quick even at 14. I wonder what age Ronnie was when he started playing left handed too. Great to watch back 34 years later! 👍
7 Times a champion of the world but that doesn't even matter. What matters is that he is still playing and when he does, nothing else matters. He loves to put on a show and we enjoy every single moment of it. I wonder if anyone guessed back then they were seeing the makings of a god.
Congratulations to Ronnie Snr for nurturing Ronnie's talent no matter what it cost. As a kid, his dad decided to move house to a place where he could build a proper snooker room, with a full size table. He paid a man £200 per week plus a car to look after Ronnie and take him all over the country playing amateur tournements. He loved his son and knew he had a major talent.

Judd Trump used to get talked about when he was about the same age as Ronnie was here - an upcoming future champion or something along those lines, even though I never actually saw him on television at all. The name was familiar, but the face wasn't.
Damn for 14 hes amazing i know hes amazing player but at 14 this good is amazing at 14 i could barely find a snooker place that would allow people under 18
