The XKR and E Type are completely different beasts. The XKR is far more refined quieter and so much easier to drive. If you are considering buying an XK or XKR get it checked over thoroughly. Apart from brakes and suspension maladies rust can be a major issue. Front and rear chassis are prone to rusting in areas and cause MOT failure. The repair requires the whole subframe to be removed, you are looking at £k's of expenditure. I paid good money, (£12k) for my 2000 XKR after the welding, suspension and brakes had been refurbished by a Jaguar specialist. Within a short period the Air Con failed but since the car was still under their 90 day warranty they replaced the very expensive, radiator/heat exchanger FOC. I have had the car for 10 years and it is a joy own and my wife loves driving it. I have only had to fit a set of coil packs and plugs + several small items. The car is fun to drive and a pleasure to own. Model XKR convertible in Pacific blue with Detroit alloys and Brembo brakes,

Good review. Pity you couldn’t find sport mode it’s in the menu. It would have made a big difference to the drive in the corners. I use a custom mode with the suspension always in sport mode setting but the engine in normal to save fuel.

@@johnablettbooth5691 that's great to hear, thank you! It's a shame as these types of events you're kind of thrown into the cars and don't get much chance to really dive into the menus. I was throughly impressed with the whole car and hope you're enjoying yours!

I am on my second Musso (still have the old MK2) now running a 2019 Mk5 Saracen yes they are reliable my old one finally gave up after twenty years of loyal service. The Mk6 is nice they raised the ground clearance and changed the side steps but it has now been superseded by the Mk7, the Saracen plus was originally called the rhino but since Musso translated into English is rhino was a bit silly. One thing taking both hands off the wheel whilst driving on the roads you were on is a bit worrying.

Let’s look at it. They did well with caravan towing but were some years ago rather thirsty. The bed on the back is small which is fine for putting a cover on to house your dog, in cage, but would only carry a bale. The problem will be shortly in the future for all SUV’s the front is so high if you hit a pedestrian you will break their neck. This is now being talked about relative to SUV’s. As for the extras who needs half of them in most cars we don’t have Death. Valley or Tundra. Fine for an electrician or plumber but they need a van. So your back caravan towing or swanning from one inspection on a building site to another. Most Farmers would want more carrying capacity because the sort of person who would purchase this wants to feed sheep etc. Of its type it is a good vehicle I have no doubt but crew cabs and short rear tubs have a limited market in the U.K. I suppose the most likely market is timber where the ability to carry chain saws and tow a mulcher as well as small crew would make it worthwhile.

The dash doesnt look original. In the middle there were either 3 dials or (2001 model - as mine) a screen for sat nav. Otherwise generally agreed. I had exactly that car including the "double five" wheels, only emerald with green roof, from 2002 till 2019. The only car I actually regret selling today.

You can pick up a ropey XK8 for less than £5k - rust can be a real problem around the sills and rear arches and subframe, so buyer beware. You skipped from the E-Type / XK8 comparison to the F-Type, but don't forget the XK (X150) which has an all aluminium body construction, so less rust issues. If you haven't reviewed one I'd recommend it - the 5.0 litre XKR is a beast

Any comparisons to other bikes ….. such as the Ducati Scrambler or Triumph (was called) Street Scrambler ? They both have a bit more power but are much heavier!
@AutoHouseMotoring
@AutoHouseMotoring Год назад
The Ducati and Triumph are much more polished and accessible bikes to own. As you said, they are heavier but do have a bit more power, which is massively apparent, especially on the Ducati Scrambler 800 - for the vast majority of people I would recommend the Ducati or the Triumph if they're after a Scrambler-style bike but they're not overly experienced. The other key thing to note is that the legacy brands are much more road-focused with their offerings and naturally, have a much better on-road presence. However, for those who want something very off the wall and would like something that feels far more special, the CCM is the one!
@nickthesurfer
@nickthesurfer Год назад
@@AutoHouseMotoring thanks. Love the CCMs and have ridden a Six but can’t really remember the complete feel. Had a Street Scambler and loved the look/feel but it lacked the punch I now have with a street triple. The Ducati was a nice ride but just felt a little ‘wet’ coming off a triple. Guess I’m stuck with a modern looking bike if I want modern power 😞 My local shop has a lush CCM flat tracker in though at the mo and I’m really tempted 😆 Style over power …….???
@AutoHouseMotoring
@AutoHouseMotoring Год назад
There's not many bikes that feel as raw as a CCM, and I don't think many mainstream manufacturers can match that. Unfortunately it is a case of if you want more power you need all of the safety and backing from a mainstream manufacturer!

You said the are not the most reliable cars, but in fact they are verry reliable, not onely from my own experience (i drive a xkr 2001 daily for more than 6 yeras) but also that of others. This is caused by Ford. Before Ford took over: not so much. I also have a xj-s v12 convertible (1990) for the sunny days, i always feel releived when i am home without breaking it or some disfunction. it's way more expensive to keep it on the road.

Do people look at this review it's a 4 door Ute if you want a bigger tray look at other products or put a after market one on . Considering the price what do you want . Toyota, Ford , Nissan ,Vw ripping consumers off where do they justify the huge price. Difference.Musso made in ST Korea Toyota, Ford Mazda Isuzu made in Thailand, South Africa made there for. 1 Reason cheap labour yet still pay thousands more????????
