To help understand it, read the story of Barabbas leading up to Jesus crucifixion and death Barabbas was a convicted Criminal Who was scheduled to be crucified that day, with the crowd screamed for Barabbas to be set free and Jesus to be crucified in his place We are all Barabbas, including CS Lewis. Because innocent Jesus took our place on the cross as criminals who have sinned against God and paid the price for our sins, we have been set free and we can live for christ, the one who set us free

You are perfectly right, I just started reading the scriptures after asking God for help earlier this year having no understanding of the who and the why.... I knew I needed Jesus, and after repenting of sins, I was able to see . In him I believe and in him I have faith, no longer is there douth even though I have no answers or explain it to others so they also understand, I know it's true because of what I've seen with my eyes and my heart. I think the best part of the Bible are passages with the words of Jesus. He was just like us , not the strongest fastest wealthiest yet he was the Best

Another on time scripture verse and insight along with this. I was just voted in and onto a board. Four wks we voted to terminate the executive director after hiring them 5 months earlier. You are missing the core action in the passage - to make disciples. Going. baptizing, and teaching support the making of disciples. Maybe you're confusing conversions with discipleship. Many churches are not making disciples, but simply looking for professions of faith. I made that error for many years. We need to have a great commitment to both the great commandment and the great commission. Please be like the Bereans of Acts 17:11 and search the scriptures - The great commission is the marching order of the church.
