I am 19 years old and live in California. I like to fish local creeks, ponds, lakes, and the California Delta. I also travel to reservoirs and the ocean. My goal is to catch the most and biggest fish I can.
I use the 2500… and I have a website I can get it for $85 no tax or shipping. Not sure about cheap rods. I use Phenix. And their budget rod is $130… can probably find a cheaper one elsewhere. Anything 7’2 ML should be fine🤙🏼
@@rippinlips3633 I noticed you used to have an elixir too. Between the dragonfly and elixir, which would recommend for a dedicated spoon rod? I already have a 771 Mirage for minijigs, and want something just for spoons and cranks.
@@G3Steve I use the dragonfly for everything…. But, It all comes down to preference. If it were up to me, I would honestly make my mirage a spoon/crank rod and a dragonfly/elixir for jigs. I like the dragonfly bc I’m able to get the distance with the 8ft. You’d really have to look at the rods in person, because it honestly comes down to preference. But I would choose dragonfly
@@rippinlips3633 Thanks. Have you compared the mod vs. fast action dragonfly? I’m kinda leaning towards the fast action since I came from bass fishing, but a handful of guys I know swear by the mod action for mini jigs.
I grew up in Brentwood from 1978 to 2007. back then, Brentwood was all farms and land, unlike the rich city that it is today, and my house used to back up to that Creek. A little tip that you should try is to use rubber red worms because red kills the bass at the Marsh Creek outlet to Big Break in Oakley; just a little unknown bass-catching tip for fishing the Mash Creek outlet leading into Big Break.
I’ve been to that little outlet you’re talkin about. Went probably 5 years ago and killed them. We threw watermelon red flake, and black and blue senkos. We’ve been fishin that outlet for a while
i just moved to Concord last year and made my first trip to Contra Loma last month, it was still too weedy, so didnt give it a chance, but looks like its picking up, maybe ill see you out there one day
Stays fairly weedy yess, and is clearing up! A lot of fish in the reservoir right now. But I would wait for the next stock, which should be this coming week
Yea man, not sure how the creeks gonna be after all this rain. It hasn’t settled down since early December. Kind of worried the fishings gonna suck for a bit, but it’ll get better soon🙏🏼
What’s up! I was actually just thinkin about you the other day, and was meaning to come on here and comment on one of your videos!😂 im trying to get more YT videos in soon, but I post a lot more on insta. My insta is rippinlips_36. I’m pretty active on there. Good to hear from you brotha🙏🏼
this is awesome to see, when I lived in Brentwood, this was my favorite spot. now I live in Pennsylvania and I thought I'd never see this place again, thanks for the great video and the memories.
That’s amazing! And oh yea, the creek is still LOADED with fish. Caught 65 in 4 hours the other day! Salmon are running, it’s still thriving! Thanks for the comment and story! Glad I was able to bring some memories back! The comment means a lot🤙🏼
Heck ya man! I have a new video coming out soon! I’m gonna put the time we saw each other at Loma in there, and shout you out. I ended up not doing to well that day, and decided not to make a video. So I’m gonna put you in this next one
