Welcome to Big Al's Cards!
I break baseball and Pokémon cards with the occasional football and basketball cards when they can be found. I also post videos where I discuss various aspects of collecting, including hobby news and tips I use in my collection.
I post regular uploads Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and bonus videos here and there.

I think this is a pass for me. This feels like a year to zig when everyone else zags and go hard on flagship 2 and update and maybe see what chrome update is like. I really didn’t enjoy the mvp buyback experience bc of my LCSs so I don’t want to put myself thru that again. Thanks for the upload
Agreed, that checklist increase, price increase and even the auto checklist increased. I am a reds fan and there were 2 guys I don't even know they played for them. One pitched 1 inning I believe and somehow they get an auto. Can't imagine paying $200 bucks and pulling that auto, an a parallel of a checklist card. And how many on the checklist would actually cover a hobby box? maybe 1-2?
Yup!!! The baseball hobby has gone to the moon with these prices. In 🇨🇦 it's like 49.95!!! 🤬 plus the taxes!!! It's crazy how much the mark up has gone. Thank you for the information. Take care and be well.
Came over as I just discovered BC, he had a huge box from you and paid it forward just as well! Nice Miggy hit , I’m a Tigers guy. Looking forward to more from your channel!
Absolutely absurd prices for blasters. You can barely get 2 for $100 after tax and such. That's nuts. I don't think I'll be buying too much of this stuff unless the price comes down.
Taking all the kids out of buying cards. This means that these cards selling today are worthless. In 20 to 30 years the buyers won't be there to buy todays cards to drive value. No younger generation today means no future buyers.
I understand what you are saying and yes, it's pricing kids out of the market. But the last card show I went to, there were young teenagers with boxes of graded cards buying, selling and trading. All of them had way more valuable card than I do. What it tells me is that these kids see the financial opportunity/investment aspect and not necessarily the fun of collecting their favorite players/teams. When I was growing up, I didn't get cards graded or even put them in sleeves. I kept them in a shoebox and looked at them all the time. I have an emotional attachment that goes way back. Way different generation now than back in those days.
This is getting ridiculous with all these price hikes. I can barely afford buy retail at this rate. I might have to stop collecting. I can't keep up. Thanks for sharing 👍
I'm new to PSA submitting and this is becoming the biggest headache. Heard you should use a dust blower to blow dust off them before submitting, sure fine. But I noticed one of my cards had two tiny 1mm spots of what looked like dried spittle. With a very slightly damp kleenex folded to a 1mm tip they came right out in two featherlight rubs and the card now looks 100% new. However, it's not possible to know what is removable by doing this, and I could easily see the foil being damaged if too much rubbing is attempted. I'm grading 2021 cards so trust me when I say they look mint, it's not like I'm dealing with vintage cards, but the fact all cards have finishes that can be cleaned to some degree is really making this more like a stressful archeological restoration project. On top of this they recommend Card Saver 1's by Cardboard Gold and the ones I purchased not perfectly straight (and judging by the Amazon reviews they all arrive like this) and I feel like they would definitely damage any card inserted over time by warping the card inside. Going to try Vault X card savers. There is no such thing as perfect, the line is arbitrarily drawn. Is removing dust, wiping a fingerprint or a half millimeter spec of stuck dirt off your card altering? If anything the presence of a removable mar is an ALTERATION on the card and removing it makes it MORE genuine. Obviously cutting, adding a foreign coating, or adding ink to a card is altering. But I am convinced there is a level of "cleaning" that can be considered.
It's just greed. Some people will go to any means to get what they "want", regardless of who gets in there way. Shame on them! That is not what collecting it about. They just want to have a strangle hold on the market for that player. Boooooooo!
Spot on. I understand that people sell cards but it drives me crazy when I see a post that says I just picked this up today and it’s for sale! I have fallen in the trap in buying wax and ripping and hoping for a big card. It is addicting for sure and I am trying to do better.
I still enjoy ripping packs (takes me back to my childhood), but tend to only buy one of each product - whether that be a blaster, mega, or hobby box. Then I just go buy the singles I want from that product on eBay. I don't' care if they are parallels or such as I'm not in it for the future value, I just want to see cool cards and have as many of the players I collect as possible. Every now and then I'll buy a fat pack or such if I feel the urge to rip, but 99% of my hobby money is spent buying singles for the guys/teams I collect.
Yeah, ripping packs is almost always a losing proposition! I only have a small amount that I’m willing to spend on unopened product each month. Otherwise I’ll just buy the guys I collect on eBay. Go Phillies! 😁😎😆
Yup. I know, it’s difficult to believe, but I swear it’s true. I’ve usually hit 2 “hits” in some of these boxes, but never 4, and certainly never 2 autos in a pack. I didn’t think to catch it on camera since I haven’t ripped anything in a long time but obviously wish I did
One auto in a blaster is rare, but two autos in one pack, unheard-of. I don't think we'll ever see this happen again. Congratulations my friend. Amazing!
Always fun seeing your card collections, buddy. Keep it up. I'm currently working on the rainbow of Riley Adams rookie Autos from Panini Capstone. I already have the one of one and one other. Shouldn't be too hard now.
