Would have been more useful if you had read the instructions before removing the head from the box to review ensuring worm gear is protected by ensuring RA and DEC are in unlocked position. Fortunately, on my own unboxing, I noted the RA lock was in the unlock position and the Allen wrench was in place. You can't actually see the Dec lock when the mount is in the box, so it is impossible to follow the Quick Guide to ensure it is in the Unlock position before removing the head, but you will soon know if it is unlocked because the Dec mount will swing freely. iOptron instructions are full of cautions to lock/ unlock the axes to prevent damage to the worm gear. Makes you think this mount rated at 70 lb. is kind of fragile. But, mine did come with a nice PEC chart in the box showing how it had tested at the factory.
I was joking when I mentioned not to read the instructions. The instructions are *VERY* important, so definitely read them very carefully for the exact reason you mentioned.
No, they don't seem to slip out. I'm not sure how I'd remove them and longer screws, but they're not made to mount/unmount easily or quickly. May need to purchase a long (10-inch) metric hex driver.
I'll be upgrading from the NEQ6 Pro belt modded to the CEM70 as it should be a lot more capable for my 10" F5 reflector.. that thing is a sail with the slightest breeze!
Thanks for posting this video. It is amazing how uninformative iOptron's website is. The photos are tiny, so there's really no way to easily discern what's where. Also, I find it very strange that iOptron goes out of its way to NOT have USB 3.0 on CEM70. If they want to really distinguish themselves from others, they need to update CEM70 to have both USB 3.0 and Wi-Fi capability. I would be interested in seeing someone reviewing the guider in CEM70G, as its focal length seem too short to be useful for DSO AP.
Thank you for showing the back of your mount. I am currently using the Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro and it works great. I connect it directly to my ASIAIR Pro and no problems with it. I am upgrading the mount to the CEM70G and I purchased it 10 days ago. I’m still waiting for it to arrive. I’m looking forward to getting it. My question is, how do I connect my new ASIAIR Pro to it? Do I do it through the HC or can I just connect the ASIAIR Pro directly to the mount? Also, I am sure the mount is supported by ASIAIR Pro?
The CEM70 is (as of July 2020) supported on the latest version of the ASIAir Pro. Simply connect the ASIAir using a USB cable to the USB connector on the mount, next to the hand controller port.
Thats easy enough. Thank you for getting back to me. I’m looking forward to getting my new mount soon. Are you into astrophotography? I’m sure you’re enjoying your new mount!! Have an excellent day!
The CEM70G has the USB 3.0 port. The CEM70 has the USB 2.0 ports. Since I'll be using the ASIAir, which has USB 3.0 ports for image acquisition from the main ASI 2600 camera that I'm using, I don't need the mount to have any USB 3.0 ports. I'm not sure why the CEM70 doesn't come with a USB 3.0 port.
There could be improvements made (as with everything) such as having the knobs a little bigger so one can get a better grip. Also, I think the three little screws under the top mount bracket could be made much larger to ensure even more stability. But it is nice as-is.
@@HighTechFL I'd love to see a walkthrough of it if you get time. I'm not sure if you were planning on it or not. Seeing the ALT/AZ adjustments for polar alignment, how smooth the mount is, how you're routing the cables, etc would be HIGHLY informative!
I have the ZWO ASIAir, as well as a laptop if I want to go old-school, so no need for the things that come with the G. I'm mounting on the iOptron Tri-Pier tripod.
The modern architecture is so ugly. The French building need to be Emphasized and restored and preserves for years to come. Once the French buildings are torn down they can never be replaced. All that beautiful workmanship can never be duplicated.
City looks very nice to live in. If I was fluent in Spanish and was a high paid skilled worker I'd move there . Wish USA traded more with Argentina and less with China.
