No air circulation and laying on it's side what could possibly go wrong?

Not a bad idea for fitment. I wouldn’t have drilled a hole though. There are plenty of grommets to go into the engine bay.

I wouldn’t want to unload my gear just to get to the compressor, seems just as inconvenient as having to go under the hood! My solution would be a prewired Anderson connector located somewhere convenient and just plugging it in and go, but that’s just me... Cheers,

Nice. I wouldn’t mount an air cooled compressor in a tight space. I am not sure about mounting it on its side, but it’s oil less.. I see all of the comments about a fuse. There is a built in circuit breaker on the compressor.

Great idea, what is the width of the bracket holes. Awesome 👏

I run 2 of these in my Jeep as back up to my co2 tank. I use 4 gauge from the battery to a 100amp breaker. I then connect it to a 100amp isolator with 4 prongs mounted next to the brake booster. 4 gauge then runs from isolator to the rear driver side of Jeep connecting to a power distribution block splitter that splits 4 gauge to lower. I connected the 2 positive wires from the compressors on the block. Grounded the compressors at the rear. I ran 14 gauge at the isolator to my Stech system that controls the on and off of the compressors. I also grounded the isolator right next to the isolator. I used a 1/4in NPT T fitting combining the 2 air hoses into a 3/8 quick disconnect air hose. I can disconnect from the compressors to my co2 tank vice versa.

@Cugoclub.. How has this held up? I'd like to do this but am uncertain about two things. 1) the heat generated. 2) the owners manual specifically states that the compressor is intended to be run in an upright position. Please let us know your long term experience.

Keith G First of all, for anyone watching this please put a fuse on anything you connect to your battery. Secondly, when drilling a hole in metal and running a wire through it, don’t forget to use a GROMMET… Not a hot glue gun! If you want to prevent your jeep from burning up, shorting out your battery, or destroying your equipment use proper installation techniques please. This is a good video from the standpoint that it taught me something that I needed to know but it would’ve been better if you would’ve use the proper technique and done a little bit of EDITING so that we didn’t have to watch all your trials & tribulations, mistakes and watch you strip the wires! Good video though, it taught me something

thanks for posting, I was wondering where to mount this in the rear, was going to mount on a wheel well, but this is so much better, will lose my lockable storage box, but well worth it - thanks again! You should do an update on how it held up and any thing that you would change from the original install.... (since I will be doing this in a few weeks :) )

I think you need to invest in a punch set instead of abusing your screw drivers
@Deadbolt1975
@Deadbolt1975 7 лет назад
You need a fuse at the battery and you connected your negative terminal on the taper nut for the ground instead of using the auxiliary ground post. You need to buy a nut. You are preventing the taper nut from proper pressure on the battery post and will have grounding issues.

Thx for the video. I would strongly recommend that you check camera placement. All the materials needed and portions of the compressor you showed us were not showing on the camera. I think you were holding everything above the range of the camera. For newbies like me, I need to see all the parts and details

If your watching this please sand the $h!t out of your bumpers before painting/priming, helps it hold on to the slick metal and will reduce any flaking

@ronbasile6364

Hey dude. Everything looks nice here, except for the power supply. First off, you only needed to run a power wire. You will get better current if you use both sides of that wire for your positive and ground it right by the compressor. Second, FUSE THAT WIRE!!!!!!! It will prevent a fire should it short out along the run. Nice clean install

KaliDeals - agreed, that long run is is going to get HOT. I would just run a larger gauge wire. Also somehow I would find a way to increase air flow / vent to the compartment and maybe even add a small fan aimed on the finned (heat sink) part of the cylinder.
@uansari1
@uansari1 4 года назад
I was wondering along the same lines...wouldn’t there be a voltage drop by lengthening the power wire without increasing the gauge?
