I would suggest starting with the power supply you are using, if you use another one and you get the same results, then open the console and use a multimeter to check the voltage regulator is getting the correct power.
@RetroPal, i've just done recapping all the caps on My CCD F340e, but it's not turning on, last night i turn it on with my power supply, it flashing a dimmed blue light in viewfinder, and after i take it off, it never work again I've done checking twice all the caps value and nothing wrong. What happen here?
Hey there TheRetroPal, Thank you for this video, this give me a clear goal to fix my Sony Handycam CCD F340e, the boards are pretty similar to the CCD F500e so it's kinda easy for me while watching your video. But i have a bit concerned about this. And that is: my Camera is not turning on, i give a power it's still same, i just concerned that after recapping that my camera still not turning on due another factor.
@@arthur_stve When you replaced the caps, did you replace them with the correct values to the ones on your board? Also, which boards have you recapped so far?
@@theretropal i'm sorry i mean I haven't done the recapping yet, i just want to ask that, My Handycam, is not turning on (i've just buy it) when i give a power. my question is, does it also the caused from the leaky caps too? Because your camera is turning on but the viewfinder is blurry. Mine not
@arthur_stve Yes leaky caps or failing caps can cause specific areas to not function well or at all. So replacing them is highly recommended especially for these camcorders which are known to suffer from leaky or failing caps.
@@theretropalIn Part 1 Do you also Fix the DC to DC Converter Caps?, it's a Soldered Box on the side of the lens, if it's opened it's loaded with Much Caps and it's hot glue around it, do i have to change it?
How about my mic actually pics up my voice very well (like the first controller in your video), but no one hears my voice during a game? I can hear others, but they cannot hear me.
Sony needs to get sued, i literally just got a controller my mic is already broken 😡, i spent over 100$ on a new controller cuz canada is a shitty country
I have the same controller and I used it on windows 10 with WiinUSoft. I don't know why the left analog stick is causing me to drift after 2 years. In fact, since 2022 I have never used it from there and I didn't know who I could turn to to get it fixed. Now I found someone who could fix it for me by first trying the simple solution: cleaning the potentiometer. Here's the point. I have a doubt about this procedure because on this controller on RU-vid I only found you who replaced the entire piece of the analog stick by unsoldering and soldering. And so I had a doubt. Is it possible to clean the potentiometer on the wii u pro controller too by moving the green part which I think is made of sea foam and cleaning that white circle inside? 12:56
@@LuigiMarioL Cleaning can sometimes fix it, however, the majority of the time it's just easier to replace the whole stick as the potentiometer will never go back to centre after the fault occurs.
Some of my discs still work and others won’t. It says they are dirty and they definitely aren’t. Would that be a faulty drive or a microscopic scratch on the disc?
good unboxing, thanks. Never owned a Saturn but would love to buy a Japanese one at some point and pair it up with my JP launch model Orange Box Dreamcast
They are great videos about camcorder restoration, I believe it took a lot of time and nerve, Just wonder is any camcorder of that age would suffer the leaking cap problem, or it could be affected by intensity of previous use and storage condition. Thanks for the video series.
hello, thanks for the instructions and great video. Im trying to restore my own cam, same model. Mine is not as bad as your, but some capacitors need to be replaced as well. I am struggling to find the right capacitors online, could you recommend me a website to get all the components? Thanks again for the video
Best idea is to solder the 4 joystick pins housing FIRST. to keep the housing flat. Then work on the other pins. That way the joystick is flat during the whole soldering process. Don't go from left to right of all pins. You can tell the four housing pins are the ones in a square shape point. X figure solder them. Then you can work on the other pins. This'll keep the joystick housing stable while you work on the other pins to solder down. The biggest problem with doing other joysticks say like Xbox to Wii-U. Is those have a different type of tension/friction systems then the Wii-U's will. You'll notice that the stock will have a much smoother and free moving silk movement. While Xbox will have a more 'drag' feeling effect that sure you'll be able to feel the direction more and have a more dead stop. But it won't be as clean feeling as the stocks. The best choice would be to buy some OEM Wii-U Gamepad joysticks with the board. Desolder those and resolder the new ones onto the controller. That way you'll get the exact same feeling joysticks with a refresh performance. But in the end if you like the Xbox feeling joysticks and want a more Wii-U controller style. This video choice would be the option. It'll feel bit weird at first that you'll feel again more of a xbox style joystick friction and tension. But if you wish to play more PC related games using a May-Flash adapter or so. This type of Controller will beat any others by far.
Interesting. They do look better for sure. Sometimes its the connector at fault, not the hand unit and its possible to dismantle the whole connector and resolder the wires to the pins and push them back in. You dont need the tri-wing screw driver for the connector.
Fuck sake. Not sure why, but I threw away the broken ribbon with the rubber part. Now I just have the replacement ribbon and no rubber part! ARRRRRGGGH!
odd question but if i say cut the mic cable will that make me un able to put a headset into the ps5 to use instead? i dont trust it to be muted when it says its muted
The CCD-F500e was my favourite Video8 camcorder (composite video + mono audio) after the F330e and F340e / CCD-SP5. Elco's where an issue 2 years after release of these camcorders. Common failure was also loosening the tapeguides in both directions. The most reliable camorders regarding elco's where the early models CCD-M8, M10, V30, V50, V90, V95 and the EVC-X10. Repaired all Video8/Hi8 camcorders up untill the CCD-V800e for Sony Netherlands (employee 1983-2010)
