Does anyone know why they use 8V batteries, instead of 12v batteries? Who the hell uses 8V batteries? 6X8V=48V, and 4X12V=48V. Why can't they use 12V (or 6v) batteries? 12V (or 6v) batteries are available everywhere, and you don't have to pay an arm & a leg for them. What voltage is the rest of the system? Are the lights and horn (and everything else) also 48V? I'm a mechanic myself and have no use for dealers, except for parts & accessories. I want to know why these vehicles are limited to "golf carts". These would make good utility vehicles, if you could put a trailer hitch on them, or take off the back seat and put on a truck bed. I want to find out more about accessories and parts available for them. Who trains the dealers? The manufacturer? All I need is a shop manual, available parts, and some good pre-purchase info. Why can't I find any of that?

First thing I look at is the frame around the batterys. If its all corroded or rusted out, walk away. Drive it. If its full blast when you take off, your relays are usually fried, if it'san older one that's not solid state. Brakes, tires windshield, can all be replaced reasonably.
Don't buy electric if you want something reliable. I've had the same Club Car DS gas for 20 yrs with almost zero problems. I just replaced the starter battery this year. The last time I replaced it was 17yrs ago. Yea, screw the electric carts. Dime a dozen out there for a reason.
This guy doesn't know what the hell he's talking about on all levels. Sealed battery lithium is the best battery of all times number 1 and number 2 he mentions STAR is no longer haha STAR is one of the most iconic cart you can buy and it's all USA made parts and yes they still make them have 6 of them on my lot right now they have been around for 30+ years certified cart for the PGA tour. Who is this loser guy has no earthly idea whatsoever what he is talking about. This post is just in case people out there listening to him😅😂 also u can get a split windshield for any make and model of carts another lie he told
There is so much wrong information here. Star car is still in Business, Sealed batteries such as AGM or Lithium last just as long if not longer than flooded batteries. If the cart has a one piece windshield it can be changed out. EV Carts can ride smoother than a regular golf cart and good ones have 4 wheel Hydraulic Disk brakes versus only 2 rear brakes on a golf cart. this is some terrible advice here.
1 piece windows suck but he’s wrong they can be replaced. You don’t need 4 wheel disc brakes which is a huge waste and more maintenance then the standard drum brakes that can last 20 years.
Star Carts are going strong and if you live on the east coast you can get parts in 1 to 2 days. They are based out of Simpsonville, SC and have been in business since 2001. The Classic series has been there since the beginning and is considered the best bang for your buck on the purchase of the new cart period. They offer 3 different levels with the highest going for approx.. 15k and loaded with all the goodies that price range holds. Bad information given here.
Star car is a bust?? What?? In FL they are popular. No mention of Lithium batteries?? They are sealed and last a lot longer than those Trojans that may make 3 years if you live where it gets hot. Strange video...very strange. Also, you can get a 2 piece windshield to replace a 1 piece.
Can’t change the one piece windshield for a two piece? That’s a lie. When you buy a new cart, you can literally custom the accessories on the whole cart. This guy is not the smartest…..
....ok....wow..... . Um, no. The first thing you look at in a used golf cart is the age and condition of the batteries. Don't listen to a salesman for mechanic advice. DRIVE THE CART BEFORE YOU BUY IT! Everyone is particular about different things, get the issues resolved before accepting the cart.
my biggest piece of advice is that if your buying from a private sellar is to get it inspected by a professional before purchasing. with the increase in price of golfcarts due to lack of supply people have been taking advantage of others not knowing what to look for. ive seen about a dozen this year and it really sucks to break the news to someone that the golf cart they just bought needs 3000-5000$ worth of work.
@@thedbcooperforum important parts like controller, batteries, differentials are very expensive for golfcarts. everyone, like you, assumes that because they are small parts dont cost anything and everything takes 5mins to accomplish. but thats not true
I’d love to see Tiger continue and as you suggest, pick and choose the best possible venues that Tiger can win. I do not see Tiger playing on the champions tour unless his physical health were to improve.
Got mine from Big Battery. Price depends on what you want. I did mine in conjunction with a AC conversion. So I went 72 volts at the same time. I get 50 mph and if I'm not running that fast 40 miles plus on 60 Amp Hours (2 Falcon 72 volts batteries)
@LUXE Electric Custom Golf Cars hi i am from golf cart manufacturer in CHINA and we have lots models if u are interestef in just send me a message. I am sure u will have surprise
Freight "costs in the thousands" .. the what!? I ship cars all the time, from Chicago to Sarasota under $1K in an open trailer and in only a couple of days.
You can't use a custom golf cart on most golf courses, certainly none of my area of SW Florida, so, there's that. However for putzing around your community areas where allowed sure add to that in FL 35 MPH roads with street legal carts. It's easy to drop $20K+ on a cart especially with lifted six passenger carts and lithium batteries etc.
Golf Carts can be pricey, I got mine for $5000 from SWFL Golf Carts a year ago but its worth every penny. I not only take it to golf courts but for drives in my neighborhood or to run errands! Interesting video
bought a 1984 ez-go marathon $1,300 put $3,000 into it -New batteries, new tires, new LED lights And a bunch of other cool stuff. Customized it myself. use it just cruising the neighborhood going to the park ,dog park the lake.it's more than paid for itself.if you're spending money like this guy wants you to your crazy-wasting your money.hey, maybe you got money to waste.
Your unsolicited advertisement is a turn off . Will steer away from Luxe for sure. Give the consumers the info and let them decide. We all know the difference between basic and upgrade. Your sales pitch will not bring me to your showroom for sure.
Begins by talking about how frustrating it is "when the price isn't there." Then NEVER gives a single price--or even price range--for ANY of the custom carts he's hawking. LMAO
Megan's Garage - thanks for catching me. We just shot an updated version for this question, 2022 and the starting price for a LUXE Electric Golf cart is 13,000. This is what we call golf ready...and no additional fees, like dealer prep, delivery or inland freight charges, which collectively can add up to thousands...so beware of the 9,999 prices...they often do not have these extra fees associated.
Gary, 100% agree, except now the mid level car prices are so high, a nicely equipped electric golf car, we are seeing by many of our customers, as the option they choose. With a lithium powered cart, with all the street legal requirements and speeds up to 32 mph, its a perfect substitution, while saving 10's of thousands of dollars!
If you live in a place like The Villages (Florida) a golf cart is pretty much the rule; unless one is driving a long distance (or outside) of The Villages "bubble"
Come on fellow rich folks. Get a little smarter than this. Invest in a timer on your outlet probably around 20 bucks Chinese made obviously. We’re cycles the power to the card once a week. Then it would recap the charge. OMG this is why we are in deep shit
