With so many channels devoted to featherlight speed machines, ridden by super fit athletes, Ride with Roy provides a safe haven where you will be welcome whatever you ride. I’m getting on a bit so have added an e-assist bike to my stable, which also includes two road bikes and a 29er hardtail mountain bike. As well as riding for my own pleasure, I won’t be posting new content on a weekly basis, preferring quality over quantity. My no BS approach will suit some and annoy others, but what you see is what you get. I always reply to questions, so feel free to engage with me. Also, if there is a subject you would like me to cover then please ask. If you prefer to contact me offline, my email is ridingwithroy@gmail.com

Sorry to hear you have had covid Roy but you are on the mend and back on the bike. I agree with you about testing, although there is no legal requirement to or isolate I think if you know you have it to test as a duty of care to others. I’ve had it twice and still isolated back in October when I was positive. Wow Wendy what an amazing prize, once in a lifetime opportunity

Well done to both of you!! It was interesting to see your route - you did a lot of gravel, which I expect was tiring. And congratulations for getting up to 16%!! It was good to hear your reflections at the end of the ride. We’ve just come back from doing Le Jog supported by Peak Tours. They carried our luggage and provided the route. I found it exhausting as I’m not a very experienced cyclist. I found I could do more than I thought I could. There’s lots to think about when you’re self supported. I think you both did really well! 😊👏👏👏

I won't buy it. It's too quirky for me to rely on it. I put Dura-Ace 9150 Di2 on my bike in 2019 and to this day haven't had a single issue, that's 4 years of running flawlessly and over 10,000 miles. Even much better than having mechanical cables.

Working as I do in IT, I understand the situation completely. Some crazy manager made the decision and nobody wanted to tell them they were wrong. Then they wait until enough customer's complain and the same crazy manager will yell at them for getting it wrong. Then they get the green light to fix it. All is right with the world. It just takes wasting a lot of money and pissing off your entire customer base. Business as usual.

I could tell you why the cassette is opposite shown on bikes counputer. That's because there is a misinterpretation and logic difference between Chinese and English. Firstly, we need to know 2 Chinese words. '小‘ mean small and ’大‘ means big. You see, in English dondition, the biggest cassette is gear 1st, the smallest one is gear 11/12/13. But in Chinese, from 小 to 大, it's just should be like from 1-100, 小 is 1 and 大 is 100. So if you are speaking the Chinese, the samllest cassette is 1 and the biggest is 11/12/13. It's a little hard to understand if you don't speak Chinese LOL. But they are changing this mistake now.

Since the days when I rode bikes with skinny tyres pumped up to 100+psi I think road surfaces are much worse. In France the worse surfaces are through the towns and villages but much better on the D and C roads. I've opted for fatter tyres and lower pressures of around 45 psi to let me ride gravel and rougher paved roads. I was getting severe pins and needles that made cycling miserable. Redshift certainly have belief in their products if they offer what is really a free trial. Are you planning to fit one to your ebike?

@@colinwellman9480 I’ve had one on my gravel bike for a couple of years, and I love it. If I start riding the Ribble more often I’ll definitely be investing in one for that.
