Nice video, clear and concise. It looks like a nice winter beer. You mentioned your numbers were lower than expected, I'm curious to know the final ABV result?
I fell way short on this one, unsure if how it was milled or if I messed something up during the mash. I was aiming for pre boil gravity of 1.057 and only pulled a 1.034 ... Post boil was aiming for 1.064 and ended up with 1.041.. This did ferment a little it more than the recipe intended, Was aiming for 1.014 and it came down to 1.008. giving me an ABV of 3.5% . Almost half of what I was expecting. I will try again in the future and mill the grains myself instead having it pre milled by Kegland. Also, I might have to start weighing these kits to make sure the grain bill wasn't shorted.
Cheers we just found your channel and subscribed , we love to brew beer , make wine and different meads ,grow some hops and others on our channel, stay thirsty and brew good beer.
Wouldn't have dumped it. If they did put in the wrong extract and put stout instead, you basically just made a Black IPA. Would have rolled with it, unless it had gone bad. As far as liquid malt goes, it will darken when it is heated, much more so that DME will. Albeit, yours wasn't heated that much, so probably didn't attribute much to the darkening of it. Used to buy the LME kits, but soon realized that I could switch it to DME, and buy all of the ingredients separately for a fair bit cheaper. Don't do much of that anymore as I do all grain now, but when you need a beer quick, and don't want to go through a whole brew day, good ole shake and brew under pressure with some Kviek yeast comes to the rescue
@@viper29ca I appreciate the comment. I would have kept and drank this batch if it didn't taste so damn bitter. I think I'll just stick to grain for now 😁
