Doing some research, there was a Rebellion but didn’t go well but in the 1860’s, the sword owner is based on a real person as was the young emperor and Omura. The Englishman who translated was also based on a real person loosely. Such a great movie. It ranks second to Dances With Wolves for me. Thanks to the skill of one of the Japanese actors did Cruise not literally lose his head.

I did some looking up on the guy who plays the young emperor. He comes from a long line of Kabuki actors, he among them. Cool! This is my favorite scene.

The musical score throughout was masterful! It was not not just an accompaniment, but the glue that blended perfectly with the acting and the scenes!

My Father passed from cancer on Jan 28 , 2022. That being said and even though it hurts me to say. I had to give a few words on his funeral and I started by quoting that phrase. Many friends and family asked me " HOW HE DIED BUT I'LL TELL YOU HOW HE LIVED ". That has given Peace every day of my life , Thank You , Dad. ( To all of the Fathers of the World ).

It is the best film Tom Cruise ever made or ever will make. For Westerners we find how the early Japanese lived, their traditions, and their dedication. We don't understand how these people lived this life for thousands of years. Some may say the film glorified an American actor, but in reality it was the vehicle to tell a Japanese story.

American Whites were not wanted in Europe so they were American. My Father did not wanted them. AND that is why I am marrying Japanese. They are like The Phillipinos. Respectful/Warm/Caring/Loving. I hope many girls or chicks will seomday marry me.😊 After all the Americans were responsible for their Politics.😅

I'll never forget this movie. The beauty of this storyline to me is that it's 2023 and we STILL don't have too many movies that depict when this DRASTIC change came about on different battlefields. The level of technology was just unimaginable. My Father was a Ranger and I remember watching this with him and he was choked up. To me, this is one of Tom's greatest performances. PERIOD. This final scene was just EXCELLENT. All the way down to the music. Pure Excellence.🔥👊🏿💪🏿🖤
