Just got ark ascended and decided that the center would be my first map in this game, intrested to see how things are similar and different in our playthroughs
I think the mammoth is better than the trike and theri at harvesting wood berries and thatch. Doedic is definitely necessary because it gets you stone for building and cementing paste. Rhynio is just great because what can’t it do: it can go underwater, pick up bigger creatures than a quetzal, and can be ridiculously powerful Frog is also definitely good if you bring it in the artifact of the immune cave. Cementing paste for days Bary and basilo are also great for water transport and caving. Direbear underrated because it’s strong, fast, gives insulation, and has tons of weight.
My rating: 1: Fjordur 2: Ragnarok 3: Gen 2 4: Lost island 5: extinction 6: Crystal isles 7: Abberation 8: The center 9: The island 10: Gen part 2 11: Schorched earth 12: Valguero
I’m delighted to see another person who enjoys the finer things about raptors. In combination with a couple of Sabertooths, pulminulscorpions and Dimorphodon they form a very good caving team.
Fascinating. As a new player, barely two months in and still in the Island, I do have to consider which one to go to next. I’m really enjoying my experience of Ark. I started out merely trying to survive on the southern beaches, to finding Obsidian and Crystal rich places, to where I am now. Right now I’ve been caving and finding Artifacts and my battle team of Yutys, Daodon and T rex squad absolutely destroyed the Gamma Broodmother. I’m 2/3 artifacts down before I fight the Gamma Ape boss. Admittedly I’m a little apprehensive about my first attempt at an underwater cave. I hope that my Basilosaurus and pack of well levelled Megalodons will do the trick. I’ve never really liked the underwater biome, mostly because the wildlife aggro you no matter what mount I pick. And I absolutely despise the electric eel and glowing jellyfish things. Oh well, I enjoy the rest of the Island experience although caving is very low on the “fun stuff to do” list. It’s just been such a fun journey of development from basic day to day survival against Dilos on the beaches, to seeking out particular resources to start building technology, to going after the artifacts and bosses. All I know is that I will follow the storyline maps in order of release/storyline to get a smoothish story experience even if I do have to watch RU-vid videos to get the explorer notes in order to understand it. But the unofficial maps? I don’t know which one to try first. Given my fondness for the crystal wyvern that a tribe mate gave me on my multiplayer character I’ll probably try Crystal Isles next.
Cool video. For me the best (at least initially) is tropical crystal wyvern. Any beach bob above the level of 65 in the SW was able to hop on one with some basic crystals and acquire of of the strongest tames in the game. Lots of health, lots of weight, no saddle required, and can suddenly traverse almost any map with speed.
Yeah I might do one, however with the series I am about to start I will probably do every cave on that, so I am just debating whether to do a guide now or just wait till I do the caves in the lets play!
Bro you really put Aberration at 3rd, have you ever played the Map in its entirety... It is the one map with the most Bugs, the fact that new players would be put off the game entirely if they start with this map, resources are harder to find and procure on this map than any other and many other issues. Aberration has had so much work, tweaks and fixes done to it and yet it is still a buggy mess even now... the Devs just gave up on it in the end
Bro wtf are you on, gen part 1 and 2 are both pretty bad, nobody likes the mission and there just always in your face and you hate every time you are forced to do one, only being able to teleport between biomes makes everything feel claustrophobic and the teleporting takes way too long. There is literally no livable area in the entire map, just because it’s difficult doesn’t mean it’s fun, the only nice biome is that water one but there’s like 0 land. All the creatures are also ass, magmasaur sucks, bloodstalker can only be viably used on that map, ferox is too expensive to be able to freely use it, astrocetus is too late game to be relevant and the teleoport ability lets you go like 3 ft forward, and I don’t even wanna mention the megachelon I think that creature was immediately forgotten. I can literally list some many things that suck about that place, Abberation is fun and difficult, genesis is difficult and just difficult
Although I completely disagree with your list 😂 it's so interesting how different people take the novelties of every map and like or hate them, and how much people can experience the game differently
The map itself is really good. Lava island and the skull didn’t need to be changed, but it all still looks really good. What I can’t stand is the paywall they create by making you pay 5 bucks each time for a new creature. You have keep paying extra and extra to even get all of the game. Us ARK players have been through a lot, we don’t need extra paywalls for the game. Great video as always!
My list! 12. Gen 1 11. Gen 2 10. Aberration 9. Fjordur 8. Crystal isles 7. Scorched Earth 6. Valguero 5. Extinction 4. The Centre 3. The Island 2. Ragnarock 1. Lost Island Unpopular opinion but I really don’t like playing on aberration, and as for fjordur I just don’t like it, I get a bad vibe from it and the map itself just makes be feel bored.
I have a question for everyone I don't want to build a $4,000 PC to play the newest Ark should I build a run-of-the-mill PC and just play Survival evolved or is it out of date
Here’s the thing, it rlly depends on what u prioritise and whether u prefer in multiplayer or singleplayer: ASE support is discontinued (no updates and official servers are closed) but the game still has a mountain of content that new players can easily spend hundreds of hours exploring. There’s 10+ maps on ASE (assuming u buy the dlc) and half of these maps are free (including the universally agreed best maps like Ragnarok and Fjordur). Not to mention the steam version has mods that give u even more content. This makes ASE still very good for singleplayer/multiplayer with 1 or 2 friends. ASA is obv still getting updated and has overall better gameplay due to the new features added. I’d say the base game of ASA (no mods and basic settings) is a friendlier option for beginners as the QoL is alot better than ASE imo. However, ASA experiences regular crashes even on high end PCs and is scattered with micro transactions. But ASA is better than ASE gameplay-wise and allows u to play on large servers. If all u can afford to get is a PC that doesn’t have the capability to run ASA, completely fine, play ASE, it’s still a great game. Most of the things i said for ASA (QoL) can be alleviated in ASE if u install mods so its not that big of a deal. Hope that answers ur quesition 😊.
I really enjoyed your list 👍. Aberation is still the best in my opinion, the atmosphere is just so different from all the other maps. Besides all the hate and toxicity in the community I truly hope they capture that in there remake. The Center in ASA is really good and I also enjoyed Scorched Earth way more than in ASE.
Yeah you if you just ignore the fact that PvP exists it’s not terrible, one bad thing is that any high quality mods that would’ve been free is Ase are now gonna be like ten bucks in Asa and like none of that actually goes to the creator
I’d suggest getting a good chitin farmer. For example a Megatherium or sabertooth and then go in to any cave on the map and focus on killing spiders, arthropluras, scorpions and even dung beetles. Harvest them and you should get tonnes!
If you’re wanting it for cementing paste I’ve found it easier to go to the west side of the map near the ice castle, tame a direbear, and hunt for woolly rhinos. They give a good amount of keratin and the bears have a pretty decent speed. There’s also a shallow lake just to the south of the ice castle with silica pearls as well Edit: South not north
I personally think That the Biomes im Gen1 on their own are the best in the game but the fact that its not one map you can traverse through just destroys it for me
Solid flyer but the bite damage isn’t as good as the others + need to do the breath attack lotsfor regen so not the best if you don’t have unlimited stamina. Still, this is just my opinion and I respect yours too!
Only thing I don’t like about center is lava island. They completely changed the way it looked when it was one of the more unique looking places on the map and it would’ve been cool to see what they could’ve done if they stuck with the original theme.
