Honestly Christian I loved watching this and all I can say is wow. Loved seeing Matt and family and my Dan would would get you to do a challenge. And you did it and more. Loved seeing how happy they all are. You're amazing and such a kind-hearted person. Love you and i am really proud of you. Xxxxx
Enjoying this vlog series mate, thanks for putting it up! BTW, it looks like you play a different drumkit every gig, how do you go getting used to that? In a previous video you showed some pedals, do you use the same ones each time?
yeah its usually a hired drum kit when playing overseas, though for the main part of europe we brought a second hand drum kit. The kick pedal is always the same, thats the one thing that usually doesnt change, because its set up how I am used to playing. But yes, playing different drum kits can sometimes be challenging, its more about the positioning of stuff. Some toms can be mounted on the kick drums and on other kits they cant, they have to be mounted on a cymbal stand attachment...those are annoying cuz u have less control on how far away from the cymbal your tom is. Luckily for me, I had 10 years experience playing in different venues with different house drum kits playing in my other band. So ive become used to most drum kits...and end up just using what ever is available.
Whats the deal witih learning an artisits set...is it stressful? Do the artisits give you much time to get muscle memory? Do they exoect note for note perfection? Super cool dude. Living the dream
there is no set explanation as it would hugely depend on the band you are working with and also the situation on how you get the gig. Often last minute call ups can happen, it can be stressful to learn 20 songs in sometimes 3 days to a week with no rehearsal. But usually for the first few shows there is a degree of leeway and acceptance that you may get some of it wrong. You have to rely on your ability to cover up and improvise to get through. Also with the note for note perfection...again this depends on the band. im sure some bands do expect it to be 100% accurate to the recording, especially if playing to a click track. Other bands let you have abit of individual playing style come through. As long as you recognise the important parts in the song.
Guy at my local drum shop also drummed for Wolfmother, only a few gigs, but hell it was one hectic and stressful time as he tells it. He got the call, landed a week later and had to hit the stage with one rehersal. Insane pressure.
Loved it! So it was 12 stand ups in the end 😂. I was laughing when you kept standing up. Was the band in on it as well? It was awesome!! Great to see different camera angles too- clearly with the help of family- you did an amazing job!!
thank you for making these - I love watching each episode; Wolfmother is such an awesome band and you do their drumming justice! I'm hoping to be in a similar position at some point in life!! keep doing what you do brutha!
Thanks for taking us on the ride with you Ronnie! Looks like a great festival and so much fun 🤙....love the makeshift hardware bag! 😂😂subscribed for more adventures
As you saw, you didn't have to worry about the people coming to Le Bikini. It is a very well known place in Toulouse. That kit was epic, 26" kick I suppose!
@@MattOakes76 yes we did get them back! Turned out they were just delayed in coming out the oversized. But we had a gig to get to so we couldn't hang around. But we went and got them the next day 😎
Wow, wishing your band all the best of success with your great sound. I have to admit this is crazy video from seeing your simple setup with no roadies and a van to the massive setup that JP has. A very well deserved "crowd roar." Enjoy the tour!
Yeah I agree, I didn't like the results of the go pro. I'll have to invest in something else... Or just keep using the original behind the drum kit camera angle
