I connected my account to EA play and the just downloaded the app on my computer. In the app I could simply download the game.

From the EA Play app. Yes this is how it worked for me. However I did also apply for the beta on the website. I didn't get a code tho.

Do you mean the daily deals? If yes, then it is mostly random, however I feel like the chances to get zetas are higher if you spent some on characters.
