Hi The Module could be bad. Most likely need to replace the Module. You can buy a used one on www.eBay.com or send your Module for repair at www.myairbags.com Here is video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xT5tiT2A78w.html
Good to know, but my problem was only a bad connect. I changed the dash pad and I needed to remove the passenger side airbag and the cable was tight. BTW it before I have not switch but I had the connector.
I believe only two-door Rams have the air bag disable switch. Quad cabs do not since it is assumed that you will place a child passenger in the rear seat instead of disabling the passenger seat air bag.
Same issue on my 2005 dodge ram 1500. Went to Napa auto parts got Napa miniature lamps part number BP17037-N cost $2.99 comes with 2 bulbs. Bulbs are 12 volt. 1.2 watt. .10 amp Fixed mine.... Biggest issue I had was unsoldering the 4 pins to get to the bulb....my advise make sure you have a good soldering iron and solder...( before you start). It's amazing to me they put this lamb in circuit the way they do ...cheap part like a bulb could cost you close to 40 bucks if you ordered the whole piece instead of replacing the bulb.
I took my airbag switch out and sure enough the bulb was blown. I went into my toolbox and found a light up toggle switch removed that bulb took my switch apart and soldered the new bulb in and the airbag light is off now. Damn easy and very cheap fix.
Thank you!!! LED was blown, replaced the switch in 10 minutes and the air bag light went off. I'll replace the LED on the old switch and keep it as a spare.
Thank you for this pearl of wisdom! I think you are saving a lot of people a lot of hair pulling. I’m going to do this for my 05 Ram 2500. I made the same mistake of not unhooking the battery while I was futzing with the radio. Who knew? But I have to wonder---suppose I simply bridged the two leads on the existing burned out bulb? That would complete the circuit, correct? I don’t particular care if the bulb lights up not, I just want the one on the dashboard to go out. Any comments?
Just did this job and yes indeed, it does the job. I’ll never do ANYTHING on this Dodge Ram without disconnecting the battery first. Thanks for the knowledge.
Where did you get the replacement bulb. You didn't have to solder out the 4 pins the whole board slides right out. I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota SXT same problem.
Radio Shack (or any electronics store) has them. If you aren't sure what bulb t use, show your old bulb to people at the counter and they can usually match up.
Very helpful video. I've had to replace this ting twice already. But after watching this video I now have 2 extra parts after replacing e bulb. Thanks for the help. 2005 dodge ram 1500 2 door.
Thank you! I was putting in a stereo and did not disconnect my battery (bonehead move on my part). Anyhow, somehow, I blew out the light. Radio shack price as of Feb 2017 is $2.59 for the 272-1141 bulb. might want to add that you can check the light while it was still on the board to confirm (use the LED symbol). And, you do not need to desolder the four connectors (the board will slip out, at least on the one I had). Went ahead and bought a new switch at the stealership for about $48, disconnected battery for several hours, hooked up and it fixed my issue. Again, THANK YOU! I set up a youtube account specifically to comment on this excellent video.
+rebel oneal : Most LEDs are polarized (means current flow in one direction). The longer wire on your new LED is positive. I tested the LED on a 9V battery to be sure it worked. If you look at the LED the pin nearest the FLAT edge should be the negative side. If you still aren't sure, take a shot and solder it in and test (50/50 shot). If you smoke the LED (more than likely, nothing will happen), buy a spare, reverse what you did the first time and you should be good to go. GOOD LUCK!
Radio Shack sells a 12 volt LED 25 ma because dodge nor any junk yards have the switch so will will have to fix your switch..Radio shack's part number is 272-1141 that will fix it make damn sure you unhook your battery for at least 30 minutes before doing this..Great video thank you fellow dodge ram owner...
Thank you, I had a feeling this was what was going on with my Dodge. That is some silly wiring to have the freakin bulb trigger the check airbag light....
