The thing i hate about pop fans is that theres no nuance. I do agree that perry is getting an amount of hate that is frankly weird (i think the way people love female celebrities making mistakes is misogynistic at times) but it’s also so shameful how a decent amount of katykats feel the need to act the same way towards kesha or charli. pop fan feminism is just so conditional, people are feminist when talking about their fave and not when beefing with other fandoms. so lame.
She should make a rock album. Her voice when she first cracked onto the the scene was epic. Her feminine voice, her singing style and inflections set to drums and electric guitars was such an underdone combination and still is. This was how I got obsessed with her. She was so unique. Turning into dance-pop over and over and over again got a bit too much for me and this album has taken the cake. I hope she at least tries to change or evolve in some way for the next album.
I swear she only ditched Dr Luke for the Witness era to keep up appearances and once the SA allegations came out against him, she kept him "stowed away" for the next few years, and once he was making hits again, he was right there for her
I'm a Lady Gaga fan but I grew up listening to Katy Perry as well. I honestly think Katy should take a break and pull off a Gaga revamp. Take a break from pop, try other genres, get into acting. I actually loved her music videos and I really think Katy can definitely act! You may not chart as high, sure, but the world does not revolve around pop and you'll be able to connect with a wider audience outside of pop music. Lady Gaga's jazz albums does not chart as good as her pop albums but both secured Grammys time and time again. Katy can definitely take advantage of other artforms and prove everybody that she is more than just your bubblegum pop artist.

If you listen to the album generating your own opinion and not jumping on a hate train it can be enjoyable (some songs). Now y’all wanna care about what Dr Luke has done (not acceptable), but what happened when Doja, Nicki and many more released songs produced by him after the incident? Y’all loved those songs. We have been saying every single time abour her FLOPPING but havent yall realized that her projects are always judged according to her personality and not the music in itself? People love throwing rocks at her ever since from the beginning of her career and calling her a flop these days is pretty convenient and it's what everybody was waiting years ago because it makes more money. I think "All The Love" and "Wonder" are the most Katy-esque songs on the album but in general the Luke controversy was the rotten cherry on top. Hope that she never works with him again, I'm a KatyCat since 2008 but this is a decision I can't defend tbh. I still love her and am rooting for her, she also nails all of her latest live performances which is amazing to see. Probably the tour will save the era
she achived the biggest sales from her career since 2017, top 10 in all the countries of the world. focus on yourself, needing to join her hate train for views.
I am your average level Katy listener, mainly her singles and some of her more known b-sides, but I still have her an honest first listen. I hate when I have to skip through songs because I already can’t get through it, but this album was sadly filled with these. IHHM is the only one I GENUINELY am obsessed with, and that’s a sample with a feature! It truly sucks that I couldn’t even give her the benefit. BRING BACK BONNIE MCKEE!! We needed another American Girl, TGIF, Cali Gurls moment for the summer and I just…it’s over.

I literally just skimmed through the album because the verse and chorus just sound the same from beginning to end. This album feels too generic and it's not even it's so bad it's good. It's just bad and stale.

You are overthinking this. Her mistake was working with Dr Luke and singing a song about female empowerment that he produced. She does have visuals. She wears the bubbles covering her privates. She is doing the butterfly thing. She is doing the flying in a portal surrounded by mystical fogs thing. She is unmatched with visuals. In her concert in AFL Australia, she was very unique with the visuals again.

I wanted to root for her, but the Stupid Love rip off as a lead single produced by Dr. Puke shot down all my hopes for Miss Perry. I still gave the album a chance. It’s not terrible, but there’s just nothing that makes me want to come back to it. Very disappointing… I think that’s it for her.
