18 Stone Ex Tower Crane driver here! I'm definitely getting myself a 60ml bottle of this Hummingbird Lad magnificence. Your review helped me immensely so thank you kindly for that. I already own Zoologist Nightingale so i know the script kind of 😂 Anyways. Mate. Full respect & thank you for the review. Very much appreciated 👍❤ Stay safe Citizen.
thanks so much for your thorough review!!! i needed this as i've decided to blind buy this fragrance on a whim for a very discounted price... you convinced me :) cant wait to try it out!
I hate rose, but I like Richwood bc it's well blended, not as rosy on me as it is on you, and the patchouli and sandalwood are awesome... plus it is available at discounters for almost half price :)
you are so right about the staying power, I took shower and it's still there! sillage is not a beast but I'm okay with that. L'orpheline really really smells like a shop in a cathedral, it smells like a convent. very nostalgic for me because I grew up in convent area. And it's the woody resin/ frankincense scent that make it smells so. I collect natural frankincense and myrrh from cathedral shop and l'orpheline smells exactly like my frankincense box. 90% the same! the rest 10% probably the pepper? I barely pick up any musk but maybe it's just my nose. very nice fragrance!
Beautifully made review! You are spot on comparing it to 540. I really do not enjoy 540 and find it crude and unsophisticated. Mandragola is a bit more complex. It has gothic vibes to me. I bought it because of its name and the story. But I was hoping to find more dark herbs similar to Artemisia or Patchouli to make it more mystical. Instead, it is a crowd pleasing oud-rose combo with saffron which makes it similar to 540. I would take it apart, removing saffron, adding nutmeg, and more licorice from Artemisia also perhaps adding labdanum. I think it would make it more intriguing and bewitching. Also the "V" in the name is a Roman Numeral "5", so the brand name is pronounced "Quinto Canto", I learned. Cheers!
I got 8 samples as i’m beginning my fragrance journey and immediately identified lignum vitae based on this video…it’s immediately dried baked sweet thing which is washed away in a light puff of wood smoke…it settles into something salty which i can’t place but reminds me of someone i dated in the distant past…i really like it but i have more samples coming so holding off on a full bottle
It’s 10th anniversary of L’Orpheline and I’ve just found your review which by far resonates with me the most. For me it is like churchy incense dipped in white cream. I know how it sounds but that’s L’Orpheline, my shadowy buddy. Masterfully blended duality.
Interesting. I do other way. Like an old candle, I burn incense sticks, and cover half of it with a upside down glass becker, letting the smoke travel inside the becker, 2 sticks makes the becker light brown, the more you burn, the stronger it gets, darker brown too. Wash the becker slowly, drop by drop with 96 alcohol, to dissolve the brown with the less possible alcohol, or adjust to tasting, I do prefer stronger, to dilute afterwards... great video ... from another hobbyist :)
😊🥰 You Are soo sweet!! So adoreable, yes you are! I Come here bc i got a very very good offer on this exact one you talk about and I dont know the scent and you are so right! Noone talks about it...I think now i will hurry and go buy it to that very good price..it sounds like a lovely scent,Thank You So Much❤
Still my favourite Prada. Before I really got into fragrances I loved this and still do. I get compliments in the office because there’s nothing like it and it’s so inoffensive or overpowering. An absolute belter.
