I always love your videos and this one as it reminded me of my home. There is one thing that I would like to warn travelers of if traveling to MTL. Toronto and Montreal are car theft capitals… With the access to the old port, organized crime loads stolen cars into shipping containers and cars are shipped overseas to be sold on the black market. This is a real problem and Toyota, Hondas are in high demand. How do I know this? I drove my 2023 Tundra TRD Pro from Colorado to Montreal for vacation in July. My truck was stolen never to be seen again. Before anyone says that the Toyota Connect app can track your truck, it doesn’t bc thieves quickly disconnected the GPS on the truck. Toyota had no connectivity to the truck at all. I wish I had some other way of tracking the truck (LoJack, AirTags, …). If you do plan to travel (drive) to Canada, protect yourself. Hide an apple AirTag somewhere in your vehicle (some place not obvious). Use a lock club for the steering wheel, or even wheel locks. Although these aren’t fool proof, they are making your vehicle less attractive to car thieves. If your vehicle is a push start, read about faraday boxes and pouches.

Thanks Marc. Fantastic coverage. I was not aware of this area except in passing. I loved this split personality of the cape between the Wildwood end and the traditional Cape May end. I'm confused. At first you were at the Harvest Host campground then at regular RV Park. What was the deal? I missed that. I gather that after Delaware you are heading west again. Where are you now? Gord
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure 4 дня назад
Apologies, Gord, for we should've been more clear on that. We had a long, long move from SE Connecticut to southern NJ, so we broke up our drive in two. The Harvest Host was our midway stop for the night, but Ort Farms did such a great job hosting us that we felt compelled to include them -- yet there's not enough to make it a separate episode. There will be one more oceanside stop even after Delaware before we head inland. Right now we're in western NC near the Blue Ridge Mountains getting waterlogged by a stalled front and bracing for another 8-12" of rain from Helene.
@gorrdd
@gorrdd 4 дня назад
@@GrandAdventure Thanks Marc... I gather that, although the distance was not that far between destinations... the traffic was terrible and very slow going. Yeah, Helene is a very fast moving storm. In just two short days it went from south of Cuba to the Florida Gulf. Helene is expected to make landfall on the panhandle this evening then move quickly up to where you are within a day and a half. You'll likely get hit by Saturday. Winds could be gusting in the 50-60 range. If you can avoid facing winds broadside, that would be best. Stay safe... Gord
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure 4 дня назад
@@gorrdd the distance was compounded by taking a wide swing around NYC, for obvious reasons. Actually we'll get the worst of it tonight into tomorrow morning as Helene's forward momentum is expected to increase around and after landfall as the storm gets sucked into a stalled low pressure trough over western Tennessee. Should be 8-12" of rain here, and gusts up to 40 or 45. Unlike frontal winds, the winds associated with Helene will change direction as the storm marches northward. The worst, when we're NE of the center of circulation, should be coming in from the southeast which will hit us directly from the rear. We'll be shakin' but should be fine.
@gorrdd
@gorrdd 4 дня назад
@@GrandAdventure Indeed, Marc. Anything under 50 mph, you should be ok. If your RV is facing northward, it is designed to cut the wind flow for better fuel efficiency. Sounds like you have it covered buddy. Gord

I wanted to comment on Loves rv sites. NOT ALL CREATED EQUAL!!! Just 4600mile trip from Missouri to Washington and back and stayed at 5 Loves rv sites over that time. Actually only 4 because attempted one but horrible experience. #1 St Joseph Mo 235: RECOMMEND! What I expected 5 spots on edge and was clean and felt safe, well lite. Would stay again!!! #2 Hardin MT 679: NOT RECOMMEND: Horrible experience. Web site would not take info or book so had to go inside and manager was able to book it. Went over and started to get electric cord out when the sprinklers went off and let me explain they were not just aimed at grass but went every where including all over me and the electric post and I was soaked. The sites were gravel but gravel was not all the way to edge so mud developed. The post was not on. Finally got back in RV and drove back across road to the Loves (these sites were around 68 sites in field beside the Loves). I went back to the managers area and said I had two problems, one the sprinklers were on to which immediately the smart alec manager said and I quote " ARE YOU STAYING IN A TENT? Whats the problem." Yep he said it and I wanted to reply how stupid he was since he was the one that just put my information for my motorhome to make the reservation but I held my tongue trying to get something done. I said no I'm not in a tent but I was tryin got connect my electric and was completely soaked. I looked like a drowned rat as he was talking to me. Almost dripping on the floor. Another very nice worker nearby said he had learned how to turn them off and could do that. I said thank you. He was helpful. I then noted the post was no on. The manager disappeared to his office and came back after a bit and stated there was a problem with their system as there are two different computer systems and one had not talked to other which is why the post was not on. So they went over in truck in front of us to turn sprinklers off which took them about 10 minutes. They left and got out to plug in and guess what. Yep something was wrong as the I have one of those electrical managment surge adapters and there was a fault code and it would not allow. I thought about taking it off as I was so frustrated but then I thought NO thats what I bought it for. I decided forget it. Drove back over to the truck stop and requested a refund and we would just stay in the parking lot with our generator as it was very late. So he went back into his office for ever and said it was done. I got email but did not really look at it. They charged me a $5 canellation fee. Lol. While he was doing this a very pleasant female worker told me how sorry she was. I asked and she noted they had just opened that rv park in last few weeks. That may be why the electric post was not correct or it also could have been due to the sprinkler on the ground blowing water right up into the post cover. SO BEWARE of this particular Loves RV site. #3 Baker City Oregon 569: RECOMMEND! Again 5 spots right nearby well lite and would definitely stay again. Each even had sewer hook up. Felt very very safe. #4 Salina Utah 581: RECOMMEND! This was again a multisite park like 50+ sites behind locked gate. Very easy to maneuver and felt very safe. All sites concrete with gray gravel in between so no sprinklers and exceptionally clean. Also sewer hook up. Worked it should and would highly recommend. #5 Bates City MO 809: Would NOT RECOMMEND. This was an afterthought on their part for sure. The set up is there is a huge ravine between the car pumps and the big truck area where they actually drove about 200-300 yards away on a separate road completely separated from this area which appeared more like a standard gas station. The 5 sites are on sloping black top down a hill right beside the driveway in and where clearly it was after thought with post back in grass behind the black top. It felt very unsafe and I should have gone with that intuition. I only plugged in electric thankfully. The next morning a bunch of "grifters" "gypsys" or "thieves" whatever you want to call them knocked on our door 7am and tried the scam "hey this guy over her just won $350,000 dollars at the casino and the tv cameras on their way to film him, get ready and come on out and watch." What an idiot if I wasn't so pissed I would have laughed. We were in mid mo where no casinos and who cares anyway. If these people put as much effort into honest work. Anyway two minutes later a second man came and knocked on door same phrases except this time it was $250,000. I had already told my Dad to get ready we were leaving. I thought they were either going to try to rob us or steal the RV. Since then I've seen about this scam here on YT. While they had their backs turned out in lot I ran out and got my cord. I don't think they saw me because two minutes later a third guy who looked to be on of their sons came and knocked on the door. I opened and as he said the same phrases I said "listen here you MotherF... quit knocking on my door!" I do laugh every time I think of the look on his utterly stunned face. He stuttered and oddly said "uh uh I ain't no MotherF...!" I said "yes you are and don't bother me again." He quickly retreated and I mean quickly. And we pulled out!!! No coffee nothing, we just got out and stopped down the interstate somewhere else. I think the first guy checked us out and noted white headed midwestern woman and old old man (my Dad) and thought heres our mark. Of note the two other RV's had just been pulling out also which is what originally woke me up early and I suspect they had already been to them. SO mixed results!!3 out of 5 were great. One could have been but bad system (seriously sprinklers in an black rv park in field with rv sites 10 feet apart and mostly a terrible manager (staff told me he was new, he needs to be gone.) And THE LAST ONE I wound NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!! IT IS NOT SAFE!!! THE SET UP IF BAD!!!
