Wow! Just listen to Clune going for it at the back there - truly superb. Forget any other versions you have heard / seen, because THIS. IS. IT. Lord knows how many times I have hit repeat! Mel Cornwell 2024
I'm so sorry about Roland, of course it's to late, I'm very sorry about your's. I'm sos sorry that the defe of Ayrton has so confuse your mind. Each time people said to me about Senna, I give about Roland Ratzebrerger. I'l swear, because nobody remeber ther're 2 guys this day
Seeing Ayrton in that Alfa driving to the site of Roland's accident is a bit eerie. To think that less than 24 hours later he too would lose his life. That was a horrible, horrible weekend.
Wow it’s been a long time since I heard this. My eyes are getting moist 😂 I remember watching this in the 80’s. My grandparents and parents loved it. We would gather in the living room to watch. In my area it was on Sunday afternoons. 4-5 pm. If I remember correctly. Maybe Saturday nights too. Simpler times the 80’s. I wish I could go back
6:16 interesting to see Senna bottoming out at Tamburello even before Williams made the steering column modification (presumably on Saturday, meaning he drove the car with the mod for the first time at Sunday warmup.)
I believe the modification was made on the Wednesday or Thursday in the garage but it wasn’t until Sunday race it showed fatigue and then broke. Because again metal isn’t glass it doesn’t break in one go it gradually fatigues (if there is something wrong with it)
As I'm typing this message, it's been now 30 years since the world witnessed the tragic Imola week-end that forever changed Formula 1. From Barrichello's crash on Friday (almost died), to Ratzenberger's death on Saturday and finally Senna's death on Sunday; these losses will eternally be remembered. May they Rest In Peace. 🕊❤
These people could have avoided Senna's death. They should have announced Roland Ratzemberguer's deaath on the track but that would meant the race should have been stopped. They didn't. A day later, Senna died.
I remember both accidents. I was 26. Senna was my idol. I saw a documentary yesterday that stated Italian law dictated that the event had to be canceled if a death happened on the track. So, even though Roland was dead, they put his body on a helicopter and flew him to a hospital and declared him dead at the hospital so that the San Marino Grand Prix wouldn’t have to be canceled. Further, the day before Roland’s crash, Rubens Barrichelo had to be revived after his crash as well.
