I would love for Recording King to make a Tonewood Reserve version of the Justin Townes Earle signature model… hopefully they will one day; ideally w a pick up. I like the one they made (visually stunning) because Justin wanted his signature to be an affordable guitar for his fans & folks… but most Justin diehards I know would gladly spend a little more for a tonewood reserve with that amazing floating bridge on the original signature model … love Recording King nonetheless! I can’t wait to get this thing dialed in. Mine arrived Thursday and I thought I was going to use it Friday night for a show but man! That factory set up was awful. Action is so low the strings are almost touching the frets and I’ve never seen a dryer fingerboard. I’d rather have dessert than a desert. 🏜️ But I’m sure it’ll be fine. I own three other RK parlors and love em.
So it appears that some parts are fabricated in the U.S but your banjos are made in China. Mostly Chinese parts? Mostly American parts? Are they assembled in China and shipped here or are the parts shipped here and assemble here? Currently looking a the RK-OT25. Thanks.
Awesome playing & sound! I recently purchased a 2014 Recording King/Schoenberg size 0 solid mahogany with solid Engleman spruce top and I am blown away with the sound & volume of it. I have been trying to connect with others who have this guitar but have had no luck. I hope someone who has one will see this and contact me.
Thanks Jim, the video is a great help and beginner friendly. To tighten the banjo head, I use an automatic electric screwdriver. Watching your video I know that I can be a good banjo player too, it's a big help to me, that I can do it! Friendly greetings from Croatia,EU .
Only been playing for 4 years. I own an RK25 and an RK80. The 25 is a great beginner for the money (used $400) and the 80 (discontinued and replaced by either the 35 or 36) would’ve been a deal at the new price but I got it used for $780. I’ve played some more expensive banjos but so far have found nothing that sounds so much better than the 80 that justifies spending the money. And Jim Pankey is the guy I recommend all beginners to check out. I was almost ready to give it up till I came across his beginning banjo video.
I'm trying to so hard to get this version of cluck old hen down... I think I've got most of the melody...but I just realized there's this whole "under score"... is that just alternating the 1st and 5th strings softly? I think I'm just not doing clawhammer right...
