On the air freight thing: I work for a large german auto manufacturer, in a press shop in Germany, and we used to get our steel and aluminum from a large Voest mill in Switzerland, that also supplied a lot of other manufacturers with high end drawing sheet metal. Then the fucking Voest plant flooded, and was compromised. So now basically the entire german auto industry was clamoring for pressing blanks. Obviously, the only logical course of action was *to import coils of stamping steel from china via airfreight*. Regular flights of fucking steel coils from China. For like half a year now.
After 4 years of rewatching it every 14 or so months and now having chemistry get to C-H bonds everything from the Oil segment clicked together , tho the other section i before fully got
Weird to say but it's kinda wild seeing 2016 trump speak with so much... Dynamism? Idk, I know he's not that much older but seeing that after watching him speak this days really makes you realize how rough these last 10 years have been for him
Good episode to come back to, wonder if theyll ever have an origin story episode talking about how they became what they are in whatever present day is it
this episode made me think of a court case here in sweden years and years ago when cars were starting to become a more common thing to own and drive. a man was in court for running over a pedestrian but was deemed innocent as he couldnt help that he ran someone over as his reactions were hindered due to being drunk. (one find alot of wierd and interesting things working with making centuries of county/state archives digital. )
For everyone who finds the little commieboo comments in these videos to be silly, don't worry. The positives of trains and negatives of cars are a matter of physics and engineering, not politics. We can go back to being disturbed by the USSR after we all have collaborated to build our trains.
@24:50 "...and a lot of people in the lower floors survived the collapse, but then they drowned from the water used from fire suppression. " JFC that's horrifying.
