I am fond of growing different animals, plants, poultry and insects like bees. For such activities, i need to have a lot of different tools and devices. I want to share with you some hand-made inventions that may be useful to many people. They are easy-easy to make and cheap. How to make from plastic bottles? How to do it yourself...How to make it simply? Such questions will often be discussed on the channel Easy-Easy.

Beekeeping has won the hearts of many men and women. Beekeeping is widespread throughout the world. This hobby is not cheap. But many beekeeping tools and equipment can be made yourself from inexpensive materials or from what is intended to be thrown into the trash. Making beehives with your own hands, feeders for bees, cages for the queen, beekeeping frames, knives and chisels, a broom brush, a frame filler and much more can be done by hand. DIY for beekeeping

Why not feed bees dry sugar???
@Инкубацияяиц.Особенностиинкуба
Dry sugar can only be eaten by a very strong bee colony at a time when it has not yet weakened from hunger. Bees, weak in strength or exhausted by hunger, cannot eat dry sugar. This fact is confirmed by many videos on RU-vid. And the supplement in the form of soft candy is suitable for eating any bee colonies. But if you're good at feeding sugar to the bees, that's great!
@easy-beezee6975
@easy-beezee6975 2 года назад
Bees cannot eat dry food, they can only suck liquid food. The design of many hives is made so that excess moisture is removed from the hive. Also, the weather, the strength of the colony, and other factors can cause the sugar to remain solid. It often happens that the colony dies despite the fact that the beekeeper has given the bees dry sugar.
@vytbbb7146
@vytbbb7146 2 года назад
how long will they eat this?
@Инкубацияяиц.Особенностиинкуба
It depends on the strength of the colony and the amount of food in the hive. If there is little food in the hive, the bees eat it in a week or two. We need constant monitoring. I forgot to mention in the video that the powdered sugar from the store contains starch. So I grind the sugar myself. Honey must be taken from your apiary without disease. Thank you for visiting my channel 👍

Maybe show new beekeepers that have no clue, using your own beehives first. Then tour next video can show all the dead best and why not to use powdered sugar, lol
@Инкубацияяиц.Особенностиинкуба
This method of feeding bees is good if the beekeeper applies it correctly. In my hives, the frames are narrow-high. If in the fall they are full of honey, then the bees do not need additional feeding. But it happens that there is not enough honey for various reasons. And if there are no honey reserves, the use of such candy is very helpful. I can also add pollen or medicines. I like this way. But I don't force anyone to use it - everyone has their own head on their shoulders 😀

Why would you use powered sugar, it contains corns starch, which will make your bees sick
@Инкубацияяиц.Особенностиинкуба

This is interesting and have never seen this before. Yet I do see an issue with using powdered sugar? Powdered sugar has starch in it, and the bees can't process this in the winter so it could end up hurting them. Frederick Dunn has taught me this

Thanks for the valuable advice. Unfortunately, the powdered sugar that is sold in the store cannot be used due to the starch. I make the powdered sugar myself on a coffee grinder. If there are not many hives, this is easy to do. And we need to take honey from our own apiary. These patties are very helpful if put in while the bees are not starving. If the bees are already exhausted from hunger, it is better to use sugar syrup.

Hi! That's a good question. This patty can be immediately given to the bees to eat. But I usually make this food in advance and store it in a bag at room temperature. A week after storage, the patty becomes denser. If you don't put it in a bag, the water will quickly evaporate and it will turn into hard candy.

Many years ago I raised Pharaoh quails. I made a tall basket made with hardware cloth and made it so I could put a lid on the basket to hold the eggs inside the basket. I could turn a few dozen eggs in one second and If I remember right I turned them twice a day. Of course quail eggs are a lot smaller than Duck / Goose eggs. Ten minutes ago I was outside at Me Bertha's house and heard loud honking. In a few minutes 2 geese flew really low over her house.

hello, I'm fine. We are not sick, although the quarantine continues. Spring has finally come, already about plus 4 to plus 8 degrees, but the trees are still without leaves and buds. This winter has been very long. The cranes have already arrived, they walk here on the walking canal. We are waiting for the warmth 😀. I love the incubation process. But now I am not doing this, because there is nowhere to put the chicks, they are not needed in the city, and selling them is not profitable. Very expensive hatching eggs. I hope you are doing well too.

@@easy-beezee6975 I'm glad you're all well. It's up to 21C here in the daytime and it feel's like late Spring. I'm wearing short sleeves most days the last few weeks. Leaves on a lot of trees are grown out to about 15mm and the bees are getting a lot of pollen. I remember that 40 years ago I used a wafer type of thermostat and could control the temp inside the incubator as close as half a degree and the wafer controller would keep it that temperature for weeks with no temperature change. Then a few years ago I looked for the same type controller to make a DIY food dehydrator and the cost of the switches was prohibitive and they were hard to find. The Pharaoh quails I raised could lay eggs 6 weeks after they hatched. They raised so fast they the cost of food was too high. I started pickling the eggs. They were as good as any pickled eggs. It took 3 or 4 of those eggs to equal the size of just one chicken egg. I'm not a go getter to sell much of anything. I didn't try to sell any quails or any eggs and eventually quit raising them. Over here there's a better market for Bob White quails, but the Bob Whites raise much slower and they sell for a much higher price. I have only 3 hives left and the 3 bee trees nearby died out I think. I haven't seen bees at those trees for the last month. Ms Bert is getting harder to deal with. She's trying to go outside a lot more recently. She can't stand for very long and refuses to be helped to get up when she tires too much to keep walking. She rebels against nearly every effort to get her to eat, bathe when she has "accidents"etc. She wants to take pages out of magazines to blow her nose even though she has tissue paper within reach. She has conversations with people who have been dead for decades but often ignores the people who are right beside her. I think that some time in May she'll be taken to a nursing home to live out the remainder of her days here. I'm preparing to get better pictures of the stars at night. I knew that astrophotography was an expensive hobby when I started. It seems like there's continually some other piece of equipment needed. Oh well, it is entertaining and there's a lot to learn, especially when a picture turn out acceptable and shows promise of being improved by new steps in post processing.

I'm sorry that Bertha's mental health has deteriorated so much. It is a wise decision to place her in a special institution. Probably, she can no longer realize who is next to her. Therefore, it is better for you to take care of your health. And I noticed that when the stress relief comes, I first get sick, and then I feel better. The body allows itself to relax 😀. I also used to hatch quails in the incubator. I first bought eggs at the supermarket. 7 chicks of different breeds hatched out of 30 eggs. It was super. Then we bought 150 hatching eggs and 120 chicks hatched. They were so cute at first. And then they both began to eat and poop - just mountains of droppings. They are elephants with wings. And they drink water in tons, the whole day the drinking bowl rushes. And I realized that you need to deal with quails not only for the sake of meat and eggs, but most importantly - poop 😀

@@easy-beezee6975 It can be used as fertilizer for the garden or houseplants. If you do that you have to weaken it down because it's so strong it'll kill the plant's roots. It's the same with chicken poop. People with rows of chicken houses have the same issue. It might be sold if there's a market. Of course you'd need to try it first to confirm the strength is just right. I lost wifi on my good computer and can't find out how to get it back working. Settings tells me wifi is on, but it's not. My new computer doesn't have a plug for direct connection. I'm using a really old computer that has that plug. I'll call my ISP again.

In a plastic thin bag, bees gnaw it easily. If you put the cake without a plastic bag, it becomes too soft and may fall down after the bees have heated it. In the bag, the food is well eaten by bees. It is better to knead a harder patty, but I don't always succeed. But bees eat a softer candy more willingly.

Of course, if there are cases of this disease in your apiary, it is better not to use this feeding method. On my channel there is a video on how to cook candy without honey. But I think during the season the beekeeper can understand if the colonies are sick and if this honey can be used. The symptoms are very obvious. As you can see, I still have a couple of thoughts in my bone head :)

Good question. I live in Ukraine and here winter lasts from 6 to 8 months. To prevent the bees from starving, narrow-high frames have long been used here. Dadant frame, placed on its side, height 475 mm, width 300 mm. Thanks to this design, the bees have a lot of honey over their heads, this helps them to winter well. But if the frames are not full, I put honey - sugar cakes on top of the frames. The recipe is on my channel. Your family are great artists! Hello from Ukraine 👋

Interesting feeding method. Layens horizontal hive? Where are you located?
@easy-beezee6975

Ukraine, on the northern coast of the Black Sea. Horizontal hives have been used here for a long time. But for those beekeepers who take bees to different honey fields, horizontal hives are too heavy. They use Dadan and other multi-body hives.

On top, I cover this with a cover . The bees gnaw the bag and take out the food. Under the patty, I make sure to put some slats or dry sticks about 1 cm or 1/3 inch in diameter so that the bees can freely pass under it. I grind sugar on a coffee grinder. I need to grind 1 kg of sugar to make two patties. I will give this to bees even if they have a lot of honey in November. I do my first inspection of the hive in early January. And then every 2 weeks, even if it's cold. I remove the cover of the hive and if the bees have eaten more than half of the patty, I add another one
