I have a bluey too. Her name is Shiloh and has the exact same eye color as Mochi. She was born with a sister that is a calico. but unlike her sister she only wants to stay outside. But she is so super sweet.
I can't wait to get a british shorthair. The only thing I'm worried is that we go for long holidays like 4 weeks once a year. Do you think the cat can handle it if we leave him with our friend?
I like how a British short hair appears more rounded than the American short hair, myself. A note about some of these tips you shared: some of these things are not inherent to the breed, but a part of your cat's unique personality. My cat dislikes loud noises, though she was raised around vacuum cleaners and computers running playlists. If I start up a vacuum, she will run as far as she can and hide from it. If I were to grab a bag and rattle the plastic, she would leave the room. Every cat just has these unique quirks about them. It's what makes having a pet fun and interesting. You learn them - they learn you.
Your boy Mochi reminds me so much of my boy (also a British Shorthair), they look identical. But also I can see so much similarities in their personalities. So curious, but also so calm. Big, beautiful, gentile giant (in cat terms). Friendly but reserved. Love human interaction but never clingy. Playful but never aggressive. British Shorthairs are one of the most beautiful creatures to ever have existed. I've always loved cats, but these gentle giants take it to another level 🥰🥰
Lovely to watch dear Mochi as he inspects his home and decides what he wants to do next. He decides that beside the comforting, familiar smell of shoes is the best place to relax.
We have a rescue, Sidney, who must be at least part British Shorthair. He is blue and looks very much like this cat, but he's bigger, 22 lbs. He has many of the characteristics, but no papers. He is extremely intelligent and lovable. If he were a person he'd be doing puzzles. We love him sooo much. We have another cat, a Calico, who keeps him active, otherwise he'd be a complete couch potato.
