I don’t know what it is, but Ram owners complain about Ridge Grapplers. I have 10k on my F-150 with 275 70R 18 . I do a lot of off road. BUT Amy truck only weighs 4500 pounds. That must be the difference. The weight you’re towing? My tires still look brand new. Also do you have LT tires? If you don’t that’s the problem!
they suck in the wet for me too. I have a platinum f150 with the electronic rear diff lock and 4x4. I am used to the limited slip in my old truck and it absolutely peels out in the rain from a stop. The exact same thing happened to me at the boat ramp. I had to use the locking rear to even move at all. In hindsight, I should have used 4x4 Auto, but I've never needed anything other than 2WD at the exact same ramp with my old truck. So I can definitely see why they would suck in the snow. My Falken Wildpeak AT3W on my old truck was great for every single condition. The only downfall was that they lasted 30k miles, but that was likely due to me pulling my boat a lot and hard cornering in the mountains of western NC
Having the same issue with my MX4 and also have a moto background. Bel-Ray grease brought back many memories!! Where are you riding at the end of the video? Look's like an awesome spot to check out.
I noticed at 1 min 13 seconds your Tire pressure says 55 PSI, 55, PSI, 49 PSI and 50 PSI. Aren't you supposed to run less air in the winter for more traction?
I enjoyed your video and just purchased the overhaul towers for my M1101. To address the problem in the beginning is there any configuration where you put the towers on backwards to utilize the lip that's on the outside of the trailer? Thanks
I’ve lived in Alaska, Colorado, Utah most of my life this is a real world example. Warm wet snow which is as slippery as it gets and after you drive on it it compresses into a super slick wet and ice like , it’s the worst kind of snow. And yes only a true snow tire has traction in these conditions. However I’ve drive 3 winters on the Nitto tires and I stand by my opinion of them that they are AVERAGE AT BEST in snow. I personally will never buy them again. I’m running Falken Wildpeak now and not only are they out lasting the Nitto which wore out in 30k miles but winter traction is much better.
I hate to tell you my friend but it is user error as many people have stated. That Cummins diesel is so heavy that of course you’re gonna spin with snow right there. I live in Texas and have a very similar truck as yours and when it starts raining I’ve had the exact same problem in my own driveway with water. I’ve had to use the four-wheel-drive probably 2000 times over the last nine years I found my Cummins to get into my driveway lol. I run the same tires by the way and I think that the ridge grappler‘s are the best all purpose truck tire ever made.
Just a real world example these tires are not great in wet or snow as many others have also commented. I’d rate them as average in snow after 3 winters.
@@BrianLampright913 I'm sure your rating is pretty spot on. If I lived in a snowy environment I would get a tired that's three peaks rated. With that said, I still think the Ridge Grapplers are a great overall tire and in the snow that I have driven in I had no problems. My wife's family is in Tennesse and last year for Christmas we were there in 2 feet of snow and had no problems.
Maybe they only drive their trucks unloaded on the highway? My guess is that it has to do with how hard the truck is used and towing. Either that or mine are somehow a different rubber compound that wore faster?
Not trying to discredit you at all but I think you might be one of the only people I’ve heard that isn’t getting at least 45-50k good miles out of them.
Yeah I don’t know what to say, mine were on the wear bars by 31k and I replaced them with falken wildpeaks which now have 16k on them. Last winter was super mild so I didn’t have much winter driving but overall the Falkens seem to be really good. I personally won’t buy these tires again but I would like to try the new Toyo AT3. Maybe I use my truck harder and pull more than the people getting 45k out of this tire?
Absurd video because this Diesel pickup is front end heavy with little weight on backend, unlike most pickups which have far more even weight distribution.
I'm from the extreme Northeast , I've been driving in winter probably 60% of my adulthood,,It does not matter what you have on there for tires, Pick-Ups are too light and your car is not on snow anymore, its on ice, I've seen bigger and better trucks get stuck in the same conditions trying to leave it in 2 wheel drive. Keep On Trucking.
13,000 LBS toy hauler and complaining about rear wheel spin? Get informed . You should not be pulling anything that heavy with a 2500 . Short trips . Take a few mins out of your day to get informed. I am wondering why RU-vid has not removed this vid on bad info. Misleading is grounds to remove.
Hi, just curious how tall your daughters are (were) when making this video. I'm looking to get a Sur Ron for my fiance who is 5'0" and she's concerned about the seat height.
Was this stock wheel, sprocket?! I just ordered a 16” rear wheel and 54t sprocket and if it could do that on stock power, I can’t wait to get my controller!!!!!
Trials bikes are very different style of riding and not something we do. If you mean trail bikes we have owned many and they all have the same serious problem. They are made like tanks and weigh so much it makes for a very lazy style of riding. Great for some people who want to sit back and enjoy the scenery but we like a bit more sport in our rides. This leaves competition level bikes which are expensive and very tall seat heights or these new breed of electrics which are a lot of fun and very different than gas bikes, feels more like a mountain bike with a motor than a motorcycle.
Great video! I’m going to be picking up a M1102 (not sure exactly the difference between M1101 vs M1102) and this is one of the best videos I‘ve seen about what it’s like get one and have a way to mount my roof top tent with out doing any major fabrication. Thank you for the overview at the end as well!
