Guys, this has to be my favorite first gen drag camaro I have ever seen! I gotta also give major props to keeping the body dimensions really factory looking, unlike some of the more stretched and flared versions of other pro mod camaros that have become commonplace!
Somewhere I heard high 3's in the 1/8th, low 6s in the quarter. Can't confirm. It doesn't take nitro to run those numbers but the cool factor is off da hook.
No. No. I’m the “party pooper.” I’m NOT for nitro in Pro Mods. P/Ms can barely take 4,000hp, much less 10,000+. Did you see the hard pull to the left? Well, that’s my main complaint. The P/M nitros never “hook-up” right. There’s such a thing as too much power for the suspension, track, and tire combo. Look up “Studezilla.” … my 2 cents.
That’s why turbos and nitrous wouldn’t work with Nitto because the tires would blow off. There was a driver in 1984 who put turbos on a top fuel dragster and it would smoke the tires the entire 1/4 mile. You can find the video on RU-vid.
@@thepsychedelicmicroscope4688 Early on, Pro Extreme (not an NHRA class) allowed up to 50% nitro (with Roots superchargers) and nobody could ever make it competitive. It was banned shortly thereafter. This Camaro works because it's waaaaaay backed down from a modern NHRA funny car. This is more like they run in the Nostalgia classes (small blower and fuel pump). 4000hp at the most. But to fans, nitro is all about sensory appeal from the smells, sounds and evening flames from the zoomies. This one certainly has that and I like it.
@cll1639 thanks for the explanation! I would like to see modern top fuel cars use turbos! I’m sure with big enough turbos they could minimize traction issues.
"only *ussies use nitro methane " some douche named diesel. Lol. When I saw the thumbnail Nitro Camaro I was thinking naturally-aspirated Sportsman not fully blown. Holy shit that thing is sweet
