Hello, my names Tom and welcome to my channel ‘Forty Five Degrees Modelling’ where I aim to showcase my builds. I named my channel so, because every time I used to look down at my cutting mat, I’d see the 45’ symbol!
I hope you enjoy what I have to offer, you can follow me on Instagram to see what I‘m up to in between videos (link below), don‘t forget to say hello!
Really enjoyed watching this build, superb work and attention to detail. The whole film sequence and completed model where great, well done. I look forward to future builds and now subscribe to your channel. 😊
I'm a year or so late to this particular party but I do have to say you've done a lovely job on this Mk XII. The paintwork is very good. You have a flare for colour work. It really is convincing, particularly the weathering on the underside. Great work. 👍
Lovely build. One tip for you. Once the decals are applied, run a blade along the panel lines then recoat the Sol. It will give a ‘painted on’ effect rather than a ‘big sticker’ look. Have a bash with some spares if you like. Cheers
Do you mean the Extra Thin Cement or using the brush for the paints? The cement is fine, you have a couple of seconds. I don’t generally use the brush with Tamiya paints but occasionally I do (only for small parts) and I think it just needs a little practise.
The dioroma really completes the model. Coming back into the hobby after a long statistical I had no idea there were so many paints to help accomplish and improve the realism. I'm glad you listed the material for each step. It helps because I don't have a hobby shop in the area and order my supplies on the Interent. Years ago I made a dioroma of solid snow for an Antarctica exploration of a Ford TRIMOTOR and sled dogs. My base was plywood, ( heavy). I used wall spackling for surface detailing, painted white covered it in baking soda and sealed it spraying PVA glue. Your technique is light years ahead of those days and much more realistic Thanks for sharing, Cheers from the Pacific Northwest in the colonies.
Ahhh thank you, it’s great to hear where people are watching from! I roughly followed the AK Diorama book that I got for Christmas, the products available now though are incredible. I like to narrate my videos but not talk too much, just give the information on what I’m doing and the products I’ve used. You can definitely bring yourself up to a good standard just by watching lots of good RU-vid channels.
I've had this in my stash for a couple of years, not knowing what dio to put in it. Then last weekend I watched Full Metal Jacket and there a couple of M41s in the film, loaned to Kubrick by the Belgian Army. So I'm doing a Full Metal Jacket last battle scene dio, maybe even punt for another one off ebay to add to it
@@45degreesmodelling The former RAF Bassingbourn airfield in Cambridgeshire was used to recreate the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island in South Carolina. The abandoned Beckton gasworks in East London was used to film the bombed-out city of Hue in Vietnam. The Norfolk Broads and Stiffkey Marshes were used as Asian paddy fields, and the Broads National Park was used for the scene of the US Army helicopter shooting into the "Vietnamese countryside". Other filming locations in England include Isle of Dogs, London, RAF Swinderby, and Compton Acres, Canford Cliffs.
Superb work. I try and build an appropriate base for all of my models to help with the context. But the desert I'd probably shy away from to be honest so it's nice to see how it's done
It sounds good to me on my phone, laptop and Kindle through speakers and headphones? I’ve had audio issues in the past (with the BF109), so I always try and make the audio good.
@@45degreesmodelling There's barely any audio on my pc or tv but sounds fine on my phone. I encounter this often so I figure its just one of those weird RU-vid things. A browser extension called 600% volume solves it for now.
Yes absolutely. I would recommend a Tamiya spray can for the primer and if possible a spray can for the main body parts, but if you just want to stick to a brush then I’d recommend flat brushes to help with the finish, but again that’s not essential. There’s a RU-vid channel called QuickKits who has some good brush painting tutorials for scale modellers. He hasn’t posted for a couple of years but the videos are still relevant. Hope you try it and have fun! Tom
Excellent video. I really enjoyed your narration and explanation of what you are doing. I happily subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching your past and future videos. Thank you.
Very late to the party here.🙂 Very well done, Sir. I try to keep a few of this model in my stash, to "cleanse my palette" after tough builds, to build for fun. One of mine took second place at an "out of the box" themed show, which I am very proud of, but your rusted exhaust shrouds are better executed.
Thank you, that’s kind of you to say! It’s a really nice and simple kit isn’t it? I’m thinking of building it again and comparing to see how much my modelling has improved!
Thanks for the video. It was perfect! I was just wondering how long it took to fully complete the model? Also what mm airbrush did you use to prime the model?
Thank you, I’m glad you liked it. I think it took me about 8 weeks to make on and off. I used a .4mm needle and a .2mm needle for the fine work. Hope this helps you.
99.9 % men. Where are their supportive partners.... Either divorced or zero interest in their partners hobbies. Says a lot about their much vaunted qualities of love, closeness and support.
When is the world of modelling going to move away rrom war? So uninspiring, just modelling killing machines. There is so much more in this world to model.
