(I've got over 200 hours in, almost exclusively in Sandbox) 1) Campaign / "Story_Mode" =/= Sandbox. The latter is more confusing (More on this in a moment), even the recipes are different. Campaign has lots of hand holding, and imo, is baby town frolics compared to Sandbox. 2) The world is HUGE. Not just horizontally, but vertically as well. (More on this in a moment) 2a) The world is INCREDIBLE visually. 3) The world is EMPTY. There are pockets of Orcs, Goblins, Worgs, (no Dwarves, more on this in a moment), but by and large it's an empty city. 4) While technically not "linear", there is clear progression, and you will encounter roadblocks at every step of the way (Weapons not good enough, Pickaxe not good enough, Hammer not good enough, Armor is quasi - ornamental at best (Don't get me started on repairs) 5) The premise / story makes no sense. Your group (lead by Gimli) is trying to break into Moria (The main door has "Shadow Magic" preventing entrance). You (The player) get caught in a landslide / demolition gone wrong and find yourself alone in Moria. 5a) In Campaign, your goal is to escape. In Sandbox, well, play as you want. Be forewarned, there is no follow-on party, no search-and-rescue party. Did you guys forget about me? The goal was to get into Moria. Mission accomplished. Are you telling me a group of Dwarves couldn't mine their way through loose rock? (At a minimum, once a floor is cleared, Dwarves could show up - but no) 6) The "Map" is by God awful. There are colors on the map (The Devs changed the map sometime before the Steam release). What do the colors mean? Don't know. There is verticality on a single floor. An "entrance" to another area could technically be on your level, but fathoms above or below. 7) Combat is no Elden Ring. Want to be a combat GOD in LotR_RtM? Follow this strategy: i) Block, ii) Swing, iii) Swing, iv) Go_to_i. 8) Targeting is very hit-or-miss. You will experience frustration as you try to mine, only finding you're doing nothing. 9) The soundtrack is great. No complaints. 10) Is it worth $20? IMO yes. But realize this is an early access game (despite what the Devs say), with a lot of frustrations. If you like Dwarves or Tolkien, then I'd say it's worth the $20.
I recently started playing this on xbox, loving it even as a solo player except for when picking the difficulty. Why is the amount of ores restricted for solo difficulty but plentiful for story? The fact that those settings aren't individually togglable pisses me off
Average of 5 hours for games you didnt like, wtf man. If a game doesnt get 5 hours from me its because it was BAD. why are you buying games you dont want to play?

I do the same. I actually checked my playtime hours for all the games on my steam yesterday and I only have a few games that go over 100 hours of playtime. If I can't get pulled in during the first half hour (I know, it's bad) I usually drop it.
This game comes out on steam tomorrow and I'm so excited. Already recruited my buddy who loves Tolkien dwarves like I do to play with me. Videos like this one have been building my hype for so long. I can't wait!

I love this headset, but the only thing that bad is mura in psvr2. It is really distracting sometimes, I learn to ignore it, but overall, this is sometimes on your nerves.
This game was definitely a gem for me and my buddy to play. There's nothing particularly groundbreaking about the gameplay, but what it does offer is solid and I agree with the video in that the sprinkling of lore was rewarding to find and deep to engage with. The combat is simple enough to make it enjoyable- waves of orcs could be overwhelming but yelling with my buddy over discord to weave in and out as needed made it fun. We played through the whole campaign, enjoyed mining and singing, and made it through some insane waves of orcs-- amidst it all we'd have moments of discovering little artifacts, relics or signs of the fellowship that gave us moments of pause and reflection. By the end it felt like we didn't really want to leave Moria.
Raise the difficulty. That's when you won't be able to finish the game in 20 hours. Padawan difficulty is not meant for adults. It's designed for kids and disabled people. It makes a HUGE difference in gameplay.
I was in my “I’m going to be a good RU-vidr phase” so I’d set the difficulty low to get through games faster and make more videos. I started the game on whatever the standard difficulty was, didn’t change it till a little further in the game. If that makes you feel better
Resident Evil Village VR was the best gaming experience of my life. The PSVR2 is the best hardware for a VR system for around 500 dollars by quite a bit. It wasnt marketed well at all, and that is the main issue.
PSVR2 is best when you just go in and play games that look fun to you. Have an evergreen approach. Lots of people rely on a handful of channels to determine which games are worth playing and they miss out on a lot of gems. I get it, everyone has a budget but theres this weird dynamic with many PSVR2 owners absolutely dogpiling games they havent played and then getting upset when articles come out that say the headset is failing. The PSVR2 userbase are their own worst enemy IMO.
Love the Psvr2 but I still hope more Psvr1 games are coming to the second headset. Absolutely loved Skyrim vr, RE7, Borderland 2, Hitman Trilogy, Farpoint and Super Hot on the Psvr1.
Great video and I agree with you that psvr2 is the most comfortable headset I had. Also at 6:30 I see that you're recording the screen of the youtube video and we can see your cursor, simple fix would be to download 4K video downloaded, a software on pc that allows you to just paste the link of the video into the app and you can select at what quality you want it to be downloaded
Bought a quest 3 last week and Half Life Alyx only to discover my £2k gaming laptop is fried and I need a new pc...😂 Going to buy a psvr 2 as well because what's the point of flat games once you discover VR? I rarely touch my ps5 so may as well make use of it in vr right? 😅
"I'm sure it says something about VR that, in my opinion, the best VR games are ports of traditional flat games" It doesn't so much say something about VR as where VR is at the moment (and where it's been ever since consumer VR launched in 2016. The VR audience just isn't big enough for developers or publishers to put the sort of resources behind VR games that would be necessary to bring them up to the quality of a triple-A flat game. And since VR isn't getting those big budget impressive games, it's growing fairly slowly. There are other issues (technical complexities/challenges of making a VR game, technical limitations caused by the market being dominated by standalone headsets, relatively high barrier of entry due to hardware costs, inability to really show what makes VR great to people who haven't tried it etc.), but the main thing holding VR back IMO is the chicken-and-egg situation between quality software and user base. VR ports are the obvious way to break through that, and there was a lot of excitement around PSVR 2 before it launched since it had leaked that Sony was planning on using that hybrid model. But their support seems to have fallen through, and now it seems they're only interested in paying other companies to port their games to PSVR 2 (at least for the time being). So VR is mostly being propped up by indie studios with small teams and even smaller budgets. That said, there are some awesome looking built-for-VR games coming up later this year. If you haven't already, check out Behemoth, Metro Awakening VR, Arken Age, Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, Alien: Rogue Incursion, and Zombie Army VR. I'm probably missing a few too. It looks like some VR developers are starting to step up their game and at least get closer to the high water mark of much better funded flat games. And if you like horror games, you should check out Propagation: Paradise Hotel (a bit short, but has some RE1 type vibes), and Madison VR. Enjoyed the video 👍
Absolutely shocked you mentioned having so much experience in VR (3 headsets so far?) but that you have never played Half Life: Alyx! It was the first game I played in VR 4+ years ago, and I just dusted it off to play through again about a month ago. It is still the best. I had high hopes PSVR2 headset would become playable on PC shortly after launch, because the hardware/price ratio seems great, but at this point I think next gen headsets will be out before PSVR2 on PC will be fully functioning.
The PC adapter is set to come out next month, and hopefully it will have a smooth launch but we'll see. Considering he had a PSVR 1 and then a Quest 2, it might not be all that surprising he hasn't played HLA. Yes the Quest 2 can connect to a PC, but you still need a pretty powerful PC to play a game like HLA. I'm also a PSVR 1 player looking to upgrade to a PSVR 2, and maybe eventually I'll get around to upgrading my PC to the point where I could use it for VR. Would love to play HLA and the HL2 VR mod, among many other PC VR games. UEVR looks amazing, and playing a game like Skyrim with mods and actual proper VR controllers would be a dream come true.
I tried getting into PC VR with a knock off Quest link cable (not sure if that’s what it’s called) but it just wasn’t working and the cable just wouldn’t stay connected. So maybe if I can upgrade to a proper gaming pc i won’t have that problem. But I’ve had Half-life Alix on my wishlist for years now haha
People always assume the Move controllers and VR were developed separately at PlayStation, when in fact they were all developed together for the same purpose…VR. The PS3 couldn’t handle the tracking and game processing to go along with it, but the Move controllers alone still could be tracked with the eye toy camera for physically interactive games on PlayStation so the released that by itself to compete with Nintendo waggle and kinect. Shuhei Yoshida is publicly on record with this. The other issue is that with the more veteran software development teams the tracking typically was pretty spot on, but results would vary with small underfunded Indie game dev studios, which made up a bulk of the PSVR1 games. I would say it was as much if not more a software development problem as it was a tech problem.
The studio that made Sorcery on PS3 eventually turned into Skydance Interactive (Walking Dead, Behemoth). Really cool to see how the tech and studio have evolved.
Definitely ain't Abandoned smh & probably gonna have a Larger Library then ppl expect. Sony usually does after all. I think bad influencers & press, are more the problems. PSVR2 is Awesome, Experience of VR is Great
I really hope they slash the price of the headset, and plan to sell essentially the same headset throughout the PS6 generation (no next gen headset), so that it will be cheap up-front, like about 199 or 249 USD. That's the only way more people will buy it and more devs will support it. Who knows, even Sony might support it then.
Considering Meta just announced a financing plan where you pay $0 down and $25/month for 2 years for a Quest 3 and the Quest + game service, I think Sony is going to have to follow suit. Let people finance the hardware in a deal where they get PS+ Premium along with the headset and have to pay little to nothing up front, just a reasonable monthly fee. That's how people have $1600 smartphones in their pockets without even realizing what they really cost. It's by far the best model for getting people to adopt expensive tech, and I'm shocked nobody's done it before (and saddened that it was Meta that did it first). Really hope Sony follows Meta's lead on that one.
the only channel that said good thing about PSVR2 😂 hardware is great, software is the problem i wish SONY make PSVR2 exclusive remake that updated its graphics to be as good as modded pcvr experience that would boost the sales for sure
Yeah, definitely need some high quality exclusives. Even just one or two a year would make a big difference in the perception of PSVR2. Only upcoming game I can think of is Behemoth? Maybe a hope and dream RE9 or whatever the next RE is gets a VR mode. Idk 🤷♂️ but Sony isn’t doing a great job at making it seem like must buy hardware.
@@mrspielberg8191 SONY just dont have the capital to do anything right now. so they just leave it up to indies and PC market.. i dont think they abandon it permanently. as long the market is still growing, im sure PSVR2 still have 6-8years lifetime..maybe even until PS6 era (still PSVR2 compatible)
I agree, but I think Sony is terrified of pissing off their flat audience. If they did a remake of Killzone or Resistance or Motorstorm or any classic game they have, the fanbase would be FURIOUS if it was VR exclusive. I think even those would need to be hybrid, and that'd allow them to justify a bigger budget, but it'd reduce the game's impact as a PSVR 2 hardware seller. But hybrids can help sell VR hardware as well, though their effectiveness is greatly diminished if the VR mode shows up 8 months after the flat release. VR on launch day would be far more ideal.
The psvr2 exclusives are literally worth the price of admission already. Dont get me wrong, i wish there was a whole lot more and understand the situation the hardware is in due to the niche market, but im really hoping there are more developers that will find some kind of passion for the medium and try and grow it at the cost of maybe being less profitable for the short term, like that recent capcom interview. Thats the stance we need to get more big devs on board with. But we will c.
