wayne has been my answer for "who's the goat?" since I was little. doesn't matter who else came along, or who came before him. something about wayne just makes me go "yeah... he's the guy" lol.

Yeah I will listen to other great artist and think to myself "man this guy is good he might be the goat" Then I go listen to Wayne and my ears are instantly like "Nope. Not even close."

Another good band that has clever word play is bloodhound gang, but Wayne is the best to ever do it. I have a lot of his music memorized and I still notice new puzzles in old songs. I tried explaingvthe lasagna bar when it came out an no one got it.. for ten years. True genius.

I'll have to check bloodhound gang out. Same here about new puzzles to old songs. He's good for a random aha moment.

I really enjoyed this video, especially the level of excitement you brought along. Believer is also a great choice bc the energy, the lyrics and his voice inflections just paint a perfect picture, and the part where he goes "im up in this..." does not only keep it radio friendly but also leaves the B-word to be screamed by the listener. He has a couple songs where he does this. I think as far as lyrics go, from D6 to C5, over funeral to NC3 and everything i have left out in between shows his best form... Which does not necessarily translated to the best music in his catalogue. Its so hard to put your finger on whats maakes his expression so unique because he its all over the place. But i guess thats what i like so much. He doesnt try to be meaningful or deep, it just happens. Another thing thats great is that he can always take it to a direction you dont expect. Anyway i just wanted to leave you a comment and write a couple of words because weezy is somebody i pretty much enjoy on my own for the most part, i am a white dude from germany approaching my 40's 😊

yes yes YES to all of this! "im up in this . . . " is my favorite part of that song haha. He is such a true entertainer and giving his listeners these moments to get in on the song with him is love. And I agree about the effortlessness in his messages - he is him. After listening to him for a while however you get a pretty good idea of who he is as an artist while still not being able to fully say what that is. How he can be so overwhelming and elusive at the same time fascinates me. I think a lot of it has to do with him not trying. He's just vibing lol. I also think he's best enjoyed in volume. The more Wayne the better! And yes he can take it anywhere and all the different go hard too! He does it all at the highest level possible for him. Thanks so much for your comment! I can go on about rap artist all day. I think the fact that you enjoy him as a white dude from Germany approaching your 40s is just another example of how much he reaches people. I went to his concert once and I couldn't believe how many different kinds of people I saw - it's a beautiful thing.

First I apologize for taking so such a long time to answer... Sorry 4 the wait, I'm sorry 4 the wait.... Thanks for your reply, fully agreed yet again. A lot of other videos or commentary in general in regards to Wayne is not very relatable to me, bc they focus on things that I don't really care about or even consider to be goofier aspects of the Goat Something I thougt about is, that it makes sense to compare him to Nicolas Cage, who has great performance in great movies, but also some wtf-movies that are silly as hell and kind of strange decisions for an actor of his status in his hay days. But he also gives some unique performances in some overall rather bad movies but you can't really blame him for the goofy shit because it appears to me, that it comes frome the same place as the great stuff. I'm not even a big Nic Cage fan, but it crossed my mind a couple of times already when I stumbled across a movie of his🤷‍♂️ Also what I wanted to ask you, how do you feel about the ugly parts in his lyrics... meaning: the lyrics sometimes reach a point of graphicness where even I go "cmon Wayne I'm not trying to hear some nasty sh!t like that!?" how do you feel about that, especially as a well put together woman? I mean sometimes the uglyness has some power to it that adds some roughness which is dope, in hip hop. Examples would be commes de garçon, Peggy Bundy or Low Down. Choosing those because these are kind of on the edge for me. Some of the things he says in those song are rather disgusting and would just not fly in a context outside of rap. But also they have some great parts that make up for that. I hope I could describe what I'm saying in a way that at least makes a little bit of sense 😂 Thank you once again and I hope your well 😊

Renaissance, 3rd verse on Habits, Evil, Lucifer, Antichrist, Fuel, GC2, his Head Honcho verse are OBJECTIVELY all🔥AF with incredible lyricism especially if you have been a fan of Em since 1996/97-1999 and love the art of rhyme and technical lyricism! Salute to actually getting it the concept. Eminem social media hate is about as corny as non objective Em Stans (or Stans of anyone for that matter) who who don’t know hip hop! Now I’d love a full boom bap Em album (beats by Pete Rock who just killed if with fellow elite Midwest master lyricist Common…+ Alchemist, Preemo, Kno, Apollo Brown, Buckwild, Beatminerz, Statik, Daringer, Q-Tip, Prince Paul, Large Pro, Diamond D etc etc) with features from other good to elite emcees (Fuel is 🔥w/ JID) like Elzhi, Ransom, RJ Payne, Royce, Crooked, Twista, Locksmith, Benny, Conway, 38 Spesh, Cambatta, Lupe, Mickey Factz, Che Noir, Sa-Roc, Brother Ali, Treach, Kool G Rap, Rakim (who dropped dope EP), Common (peep that new common if you haven’t), Pharoahe Monch, AZ, Nas, Jay-Z, Cole, Black Thought Kendrick, Aesop Rock, Andre 3000, Killer Mike, El-P, Apathy, Diabolic, Nino Bless, Grafh, Lloyd Banks etc etc!

Phew!! I don't know all those artist (I will definitely do some digging) but the ones that I do know give me goosebumps just thinking about it! A whole album omg. That's a deep roster and I do wish that we got more of that, just straight up showing out like rap super bowl. Oh to dream! I will be checking out the new Common he dropped this year too?! I think Renaissance was insanely overlooked, like such a great intro song and perfect for the album. I'm a newbie, but I think intro songs don't always hit like this one did. Albums like this help train my ear fa sho. And I agree the Em hate is just unnecessary, often coming from people who haven't accomplished what he has on his worst day. I think all the hate is habitual now, it makes people feel smarter. Namaste buddy!

@@leahdubskushlyfe Yup new Common & Pete Rock album dropped on the same day Em dropped (July 12). Renaissance is 🔥. First time I played the album I played that back like 5 times 😅 bc it reminded me so much of being a teenager hearing 1997 Em for the first time in 9th grade!

I totally agree with your perception of MDL--I had the same reaction after the beef. I am so proud of him standing up and going against the grain, especially considering the toxic masculinity that is a huge part of the rap industry unfortunately. At the end of the day, I think the narrative around his "apology" will change as peeps will be able to discern his extraordinary strength in this moment.
@leahdubskushlyfe

I agree, now that the beef is over and ended messy, I think the narrative is already changing. We forget that courageous inspiration is almost never accepted by the masses at first.

He stepped in the ring tho. Plus he keeps rapping about battling rappers. Lots of rappers have gone back and forth in hip hop history. He just aint built like that to back his raps. He constantly invites this.

@@MalikMoorBeatz I think Styles P put it best in a recent interview: Kdot and Cole fight differently. Kdot is a ferocious hand to hand combatant, Cole is a cold sniper. Cole stepped out of the battle (MOSTLY for business reasons IMO), but he remains a full participant in the war.
@MalikMoorBeatz

No because he constantly raps about being the best on the mic. First time he was tested he folded. He called himself the Muhammad ali of rap. Women dont understand
@leahdubskushlyfe
@leahdubskushlyfe 3 месяца назад
Do you think best applies to the best version of his artistic expression or best compared to other MCs technically? I can see why people disagreed with his apology and I also see why you say that women ( I speak for myself) "don't understand" because we don't have the same competitive culture. His personal decision to apologize is a different matter I think, but man there was just so much in the album that spoke to where he was mentally to do something like that and I think it's overlooked. What did you think about the album?
@leahdubskushlyfe
@leahdubskushlyfe 3 месяца назад
He also has a theme of not backing down to anybody in the rap game and the apology can be seen as backing down. But he's also an artist that constantly speaks on growth and mistakes. There are layers that are valuable to dig into in my opinion. I think he has the most interesting angle.

Being the best doesn’t mean engaging in a gossip battle with two people you’re close to. He’s also said before he cares more about the relationship he has with Drake and Kendrick.

This is the first time we award traitors in hiphop, kendrick lamar is apparently this perfect person who cant do wrong and jcole for bowing down to this saviour is apparently righteous. Pathetic, the so called culture is looking a little goofy to me
@leahdubskushlyfe

I agree. I think a lot of that has to do with us getting too far away from the music and too much into the artist personal lives, projecting ourselves onto them.
