sometimes cords do not work or are intermittent when are slightly pulled or are tilted a certain way, so it’s actually pretty smart and legal for dohyun to do this, since it may work when the cord is in certain positions but not others of that makes sense
The opposite in most places, and more clubs makes competition more fun, and availability more fun. My city has two places to fence, a school, and a club, one has mostly epee, one has mostly foil, so anything sabre is a pain to have people show up consistently, and there are no clubs for a pretty long while, so it’s not like I can drive to one. Also, even more a thing is that it make exposure of the sport more frequent, which is a good thing since in some places it’s underfunded or just not popular.
