I just watched the Manila staging of this. I had prior knowledge of what is the idea that revolves around Miss Saigon.. but I did not know the finale where she would shoot herself, so when we watched it was truly tragic!! This and "I'd Give My Life for You" was the parts that made me emotional, to the point I sort of hated Ellen haha
Personal preference, the beast was a little too goofy for me, bordering on camp. It took away from key moments onstage but that’s just a personal opinion 😊 he’s a strong actor and has a beautiful voice though!
I still cry from listening this last scene from Casette Tape, CD and watching it in the actual stage last 2000 in CCP and just recently in Solaire. 😢😢😢
No other actor, who has played Chris' role in Miss Saigon, has ever delivered a more realistic and heartbreaking scream at the ending than Will Chase. Delivery is everything. Bravo!
This is kind of why having a big special effect in a show can work against it. All everyone seems to talk about with Miss Saigon is the helicopter...but nobody ever seems to talk about how harrowing and gripping the scene leading UP to the helicopter is. (A local theater did a small production and made it work beautifully. There was a video projection on the back of the stage of helicopters arriving at around "Please, Kim, hear the phone..." Then when it came time for the evacuation, a blinding headlight descended from the top of the stage, throwing everything else into shadow. Just the light and some sound effects, and the audience's mind filled in the rest.)

I still maintain the opinion that Chris is the main villain in this. He's an ass who just thought with his stick. Why would you marry another person if you were in love with this girl? Either you were lying about it in the heat of the moment (ass, this poor girl pinned all her hopes on you), or you loved her but decided oh let me get another woman (also ass). Even if you thought that oh maybe this chick died, so let me move on in this three years (a decent amount of time, honestly), if you're still having nightmares about this girl, do something about it. If John can work for that organization, you could have made some effort to find this girl (or confirm her death at least). =_=
