Now we wait and see who we lose and who we get back, along with who we get via recruiting and the portal. I hope the team learns to practice situational hitting (if they aren't already doing that). That would be a start when it comes to resolving our RISP issues. And if Thompson opts to get another job elsewhere, it won't be all that disappointing (and then we wait and see if we're 3 for 3 with splash hires). Even though it was a disappointing end to the season and it ended sooner than desired/expected, at least the Diamond Hogs didn't deal with the level of losing and dysfunction we saw from football and basketball. It's a bummer the trend of major Hog teams winning NCs every 3 decades is now over (unless the football team can have an improved version of 2006 this upcoming season).
Same shit different year. This is who we are as a program. Great regular seasons with terrible choking postseasons. This pitching staff got exposed for the frauds they are the last month of the season and then the bats were never there all season. If Nate Thompson is not fired it’ll be the exact same shit next year and years to come if he’s not. There are high school and grade school hitting coaches better than him out there.
I feel like it was more of the pitching staff running out of gas. We do need to change the hitting approach and maybe learn to practice situational hitting.
Listen yall Dave needs to do better in pitching and hitting hands down they did bat ova 300 today the pitching today really sucks when you cant beat Kentucky Wildcats twice and you batting last in the SEC youre not going to win Natty or getting out of your regional This is embarrassing to lose to SeMo
Jesus christ. Why is every Hog sport like this? Arguably some of the best talent in the states but crack under pressure and can never finish strong. Such a disappointment.
With the baseball facilities they have you would expect more. They looked like they didn’t want to be out there. For sure we need a new hitting coach and pitching coach. Bunch of disappointment on the hitting all year putting a lot pressure on the pitching.
Pitching staff died about a month ago. No idea if it was injuries, mental or what but it ended up being Hagan and a couple of arms in the pen. Once Hagan gave up the 3 run shot yesterday, felt like it was over. Hope DVH stays another year, this isn’t how he needs to go out
The refusal of this team to SAC bunt is absurd. That's what 5ish games that could likely have been won with a little small ball? KSU just proves why you do it.
Not sure if the Razorbacks can win three in a row to take the regional at this point. We have to get past SEMO this afternoon, and if we do, we have to turn around and play K State tonight. If the Hog's can win both games today, I really like our chances to win it on Monday, provided we don't have to deal with the rain delay. Go Hog's!!!
I’m a huge Hog fan, I follow Razorbacks baseball and watch all the highlights but I loathe watching an entire baseball game. Can we put everyone on a clock to move faster at all times or cut all games down to 5-7 innings, encourage all players to participate in cardio workouts for most of the week and year, and never ever have games that are “great pitching battles” /defenseive games with barely any runs scored. All games should have 15 home runs, everyone should be able to run a couple miles easily, no 7th inning stretch, no pitching warmups in game, no coaches at the game, and the speed of the game should increase to an up tempo jog from its current “we’ll get there when we get there” speed of play. Thank you. Also, if there was tackling that’d be great too. Like maybe the catcher is allowed to spear people. Just a thought.
I’m relatively new to baseball compared to the average fan that grew up playing and watching baseball. I played Football and Basetball and grew up in a family disinterested in baseball as a whole. It seems like, since the team doesn’t work in continuous unison on the field of play like football or basketball, it’s kind of a partly cumulative-individual sport with the occasional assist from a team mate.ifmyoy look at baseball standings, top teams don’t dominate the completion the same way because it seems like intangibles play a huge role, plus the hard to perfectly align batting order that gets consistent and optimal results. To me, that’s what makes it great a lot of times, but the regionals and CWS formats absolutely make things more unpredictable. The top teams would seem to fare much better in a typical pro/MLB playoff series format. They play the entire regular season (weekend series at least) in a similar game series format, only to play the unconventional post season format. It kinda doesn’t make any sense, other than logistically.
I think the CWS can be won by myriad teams this year, doesn’t feel like any team is a whole lot better than the next this year. Parity perhaps. I’m a Hog Fan but I’m predicting any other team in the SEC to win it all, at 40 year old lowered expectations and pessimism are valuable tools in coping with Hog sports. I think the Hogs have just of good a shot to win the CWS as anybody but I also legitimately assume the Hogs will not win it all, ever, at any of the three major sports, ever, never, ever again.
I wanted to watch that controversial 3rd base "safe" call @4:50 in. It's like they didn't want us to review that one. No matter I don't suppose....Hogs won it anyway.
Hitting is easier against weak pitching. Last regular season game they were run ruled. I hope they go all the way, I really do but what happened today isn't an indication they can hit.
@@lil2.74 While yes you are right, SEMO is still a top 64 team in the nation. It's not like they have the worst pitching. Now, I do think that you are right. Down the stretch, hitting is not going to come in bunches as the teams get tougher. But either way it's nice to see Ben, Hudson, and Diggs starting to get a little hot with bats in their hands. Hell Even Ty has been doing well at getting on base.
@@lil2.74 could be an indication that they can hit though. I think they’ll hit it better in the post season than regular season as a whole. Still don’t think they’ll win it all, but this team has some unrealized potential and moxie. They call em intangibles, they’re real, and they matter a hell of a lot in baseball.
