This... was posted at a very opportune time for me. I've been dealing with an art-induced anxiety attack all day, and some of this stuff I really needed to hear.
I am sorry for what you are experiencing. Sadly this world isn’t for creative people sometimes. The way we breathe through our art is a burden, especially in the way this economy is structured. Not mentioning the technology we have today and when it is improperly used, exploiting creative works. But you know, sometimes we feel alone in our struggles… and we are not. So it is necessary to remind ourselves we are not alone and many people are sharing our experiences. Take some rest, explore your creativity in an healthy way, in the same way it healed and guided you in your whole life. And if sometimes you don’t feel to… it is ok. Take a pause, recharge, explore, “lose time” - it won’t be really lost. It will be spent on your journey, and it is damn fine. 😮
Ehi ehi!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I love watching you draw, enjoy your music choices, and I'm an Italian American, so I love listening to you speak in either language. (even though I am not fluent in Italian) I'm glad you're feeling better about things after your summer break. Thanks to Google Translate for providing the Italian translation in this message. 😅
Google Translate is how I first learned basic english words. Even now, I’m still working on improving my listening skills, but I realize that to really learn a language, you need to actively speak and engage in real conversations-just like a child would. 😊 By the way, thank you for watching! I was hesitant about publishing this video; this is actually the second time I’ve recorded it. I’m not sure how personal I _should_ get in this space, and I worry a bit about taking up people’s time. But I felt that I needed to share this message. We often romanticize everything, and sometimes it’s important to remember that it’s okay to stumble, to fail, and to take things slow.
@renflowergrapx how personal to get is a decision all RU-vid creators need to make. I've struggled with it, too. I also haven't made a video in a long time. 😬 It seems to me that authenticity is one of the keys to growing a channel. We won't be able to please everyone, and that's okay. I appreciate your perspective as much as I appreciate your skill. And, I relate to much of what you shared here.
Um Tore zu zeichnen bitte auf die Mauer zwischen Türmen klicken und dann auf das Zahnrad dann sollte abhängig von der Mauer ein Tor eingefügt werden. To draw gates, please click on the wall between towers and then on the cogwheel, then depending on the wall a gate should be inserted
I’m glad you find them helpful! Sometimes the information feels so ingrained and routine that I’m not sure if it even needs to be really explained. I worry a little about stating the obvious, so I’m happy to know if there’s something valuable in it after all. I try to make my videos as if I’m talking to a friend, or a friendly colleague. In my small circle, there’s no gatekeeping, we all help each other. So, Thank you for being here!
I know, i made A LOT of corrections and much more typos 😂 and if you can find the special text "D..R..O...9000", let me know where it appears! ahahah - PS. This video required a lot to be completed. Since there are several aspects of Hierarchy i needed to apply in this particular design niche. Hope you can grasp some good tricks. Enjoy - 🪷
I'm in love with your workflow - please, I'm dying to know how you do your walls! I've been trying to use Forgotten Adventures assets and Clip Studio Paint, but I like what you're doing waaaay better!
@@renflowergrapxI’m not very familiar with Clip Studio Paint and am actually much more comfortable in Photoshop. It probably does have similar features, but I’d definitely prefer trying this in Photoshop. I would personally love to see a breakdown of your process for battle maps. Not enough people are showing that you can make these in Photoshop!
@@AmberTBarclay However, i'm very photoshop-oriented, so It would be a pleasure for me to talk about tricks and tips to be used in PS. May I ask you: what in particular do you like of the walls? Just to make sure I can include the aspect you are referring to!
My speed painting "Token" videos do not take much attention here, but it is something I love doing and I hope you don't mind me sharing small thing i'm proud of!
🪷 QUICK UPDATE: i had the opportunity to test the full version and i can tell they already did a lot of improvements! I shall share with you those updates. At today this tool looks exceptionally functional. ❤
Are there a lot of different types of buildings in the Steam Workshop? I am looking at getting this software, but I have to update my video card first.
@@jaisenmahne2832 yes. There are enough buildings and roof types. I am working on a video to explore this version. However, maybe it is just my pc-build but i find the software really light and fluid. It takes a while to load at the launch, but the workflow seems smooth. Is your graphic card in the requirements for running the game?
@@renflowergrapx Unfortunately I only have a 3GB video card, I have to update to a 6 or 8GB before I can run it. I will be doing that later this year, so it's good to know that there are options. Thanks for letting me know.
@@bladewraith This is something I'm trying to do. <3 I have released a couple of tutorial videos and I'm planning on making more. all of them would give an insight on specific elements. But nope, till today I haven't yet published anything like that. But i'm willing to do it - As soon as I can understand what value I can bring on the table. lol.
@@renflowergrapx The value you bring is that so few people produce in depth tutorials that are suited to people wanting to get in to fantasy cartography; like myself. There are tutorials on mountains or coastlines, biomes, and other stuff. But not many where it is all put together from concept right through to finished product. The journey is just as important as what you end up with. I need to know how you think and understand why you make the choices you do. Yes, I'm being selfish, but forgive my guilty pleasure 🙂
Ty for your words. This is exactly what i am trying to do with my tutorials. Even though they are separated videos, in each one i try to explain the reasoning behind more than the actual technical point.
@@mightofmerchants hey there! It is a fun tool. I can say there is A LOT you have processed to arrive at this demo. There are details and functions that are usually undervalued in other programs. Looking forward to exploring the following updates!
@@renflowergrapx Thank you very much! There are still so many great ideas from the community that I want to implement. The full version has already gotten several updates with new features and details. By the way, I wrote you a message on Instagram. :)
Aww, Ty! I actually feel the same. If there is something I LOVE about the art community is that we all want to learn and share. Even the people with infinite skills (whose are not me for sure lol, i'm so tiny) they still want to learn more and improve. So, welcome into this page, hope we will mutually learn something! Don't hesitate to ask questions if you have any!
how do u use the smudge tool when u fix the mountain colour (brush/setting/technique)? I'm trying but cant seem to get that nice diffusion you're getting.
Well, I have a pretty good mic but the audio here is from my thelephone camera. I usually have the USB mic when I record with my cam and I need to find a good balance in recording the two different resources and merging them later. Something that worked for another video. Anyhoo... Here in particular I've tried to filter the voice with the editing software to clean up the fan in the background - I think this decreased a lot the quality.
Love the drawing, had to mute the music though. The different heights could read a little clearer especially on the large slopes left and right. Otherwise a very beautiful map. Also I love your texturing style.
Oh no! I usually try to pick matching songs for these videos. Im sorry if the selected one isn’t this pleasing! - however thank you for your feedback! Making a top down view map isn’t easy especially when you want to show height. I’ll try to to better. This feedback is very useful!
This is amazing!! I was always a "oh, I'll just draw a shape" kind of map maker, so never used any technique to come up with shapes, but now I want to try the 3. Great video, thank you!
Thank you for the video! I tried Inkarnate's free version and felt the same. Underwhelmed and feeling a little deceived that they don't include all the assets they advertise for the free version. I'd love to see you draw that map in your style! Also, I am Italian descendant on my mother's side (also "Maria"!) and watching your videos is nice. It wakes up a little bit of a feeling of missing family with me. :)
Ciao! Thank you for your feedback. You know, talking with other Inkarnate users i've discovered you had much more freedom of choice in the beginning. I'm sad they have reduced this selection because could've been a great tool for authors and people willing to craft their own idea. I know 5 bucks a month may sound "doable" for many people, but today we have so many subscription plans and I wonder if there is something else that can be used for free and offering a better alternative =) - Glad my italian roots are screaming loud through my accent lol
@@renflowergrapx I didn't know that they cut back on their users! I'm not an Inkarnate user really, I tried it a long time ago and knew it wasn't for me. Especially because I also hate subscription models! I ended up using Wonderdraft instead which is similar. While it's not free ($30) and not perfect, it was a 1 time purchase and I can add my own assets to it. BUT I've been getting more into drawing my own maps though and that's how I found your video! Keep making these awesome videos!! And hey they are good roots (Italy) so keep them screaming! lol Ciao!
Hey Tomas, When I upload and translate the subtitles I also create the title with youtube editor. If your browser is settled on Spanish you probably see the videos in the language you have turned on.
@@SuperTomas314 Oh, it's pretty simple: When I upload my own subtitles (or type them), I can automate the translation. In the window where you upload and edit your video, you can find the Subtitles tab! Just below the list, you will find the button to add languages, and for each language, you can automatically translate the original subtitles! You can also do this for titles and descriptions.
@@SuperTomas314 I know translations won't be always accurate, but I still want to give them a try. Especially when I share videos which are made to help people (like tutorials and info-sharing)
I can see a small virtue in using these services to stimulate your own imagination, but the restricted functionality would bother me. It might be different if you could import your own shapes and work from there. And yes, Inkarnate's offer of 'free' but illustrating their service with 'Pro' imagery is implicitly dishonest. My difficulty with this is, if it was so easy for them to be dishonest with the initial 'client', quanto velocemente sarebbero di nuovo disonesti? "dickwizardry" - manipolazione del pene?! (is this a very personal cosmetic surgery offer?) DonnnJon'Jon'Jon. 😾 watabou.itch's town layouts were pretty, but again, something used to stimulate your own imagination. Again, grazie, thank you for making me think... and laugh. (dickwizardry - hihihi) 😄
Well, i can’t understand how it can be a name and a bad word in the same language. So i didn’t know how much i could tell, but i have discovered “D” is also another way to refer to the same therm. - i should study more from the urban dictionary. 😂
@renflowergrapx always!! I started to teach myself maps by looking at old 90s videogames but I've improved after watching you, wasd20 and pen&blade. Watching your work is like attending advanced class.
@@artblockonthefrontlawn6701 oh. Wow. I mean, this sounds like a huge compliment. (Thank you) - I don’t know much about where to start teaching. Thus i’m sharing my raw process and sometimes thoughts! If i may ask, what do you think is the most difficult part in mapmaking, at least for your experience so far?
@@1n20DnD Nope. For some reason It didn't save the edits! I assume I made a mistake, but I can't tell - What I know the music track wasn't there in the Editor! Usually for short videos like this one I prefer to pick from the youtube music library.
