So glad you mentioned the mega boss of Lancelot at the end. Was gonna be bummed that you might have missed it when you talked about how easy the other knight fights were
Maybe it's a region thing, but I distinctly remember Sonic not moving on his own - I had to tilt the Wiimote forwards, in addition to any of the different motion controls, which made for a really carpal tunnel-tastic experience.
Ok PERSONALLY, I think Sega sent a spy on a Nintendo meeting about Mario Wonder and heard that things are being more animated so that's why everything is LOoOoOoOong
UNPOPULAR OPINION: Jason was at his worst in this and Unleashed. I actually kinda like him a bit more in Unleashed, but only when in the actual cutscenes.....can't stand to always hear him saying "WOOOOO!", "Feeling good!" all the time, it's just.....annoying lmfao
The only Sonic game I've ever played on mute, and it's for that exact reason LOL HERE WE...WOO WOO WOO FEELIN' GOOD WOO WOO HYYYYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH Fucking make it stop.
The music for this 'port' was HILARIOUSLY awful. I actually was stunned to realize I was listening to 'remixes' when I went to check out the soundtrack for this. The Special Stage remix is ESPECIALLY terrible as is Flying Battery.
As a kid at the time who hadn't ever played another platforming game, and who therefore had no idea what good controls felt like, I loved this game. As an adult who knows what good controls are like, I can completely understand why people didn't like it. I do think that this games aesthetics and music were amazing though, and would love to see a remake with decent controls. I feel like even though you're falling off every platform and trying to reign in sonic like he's a mad bull, you're constantly surrounded by really good looking levels. Even the springs and boost pads and ramps were redesigned in such a way that stages nowadays just don't have. The most you'll get now is a classic sonic spring which is such a shame because secret rings and the storybook sonic idea clearly has so much potential. It feels like a tale as old as time now though. A sonic game that would be so good if only it did "insert thing" properly after they've proven that they can do it before.
Genuinely couldn't agree more. This was not only Jason Griffith's best voice acting role as Sonic, but the best depiction of his character. Though Frontiers put up a good argument too
Black Knight was a game so many people just wrote off because "Sonic with a sword???" and its association with Secret Rings but FUCK did they cook with this
Genuinely in my top 5. No nostalgia, I played and beat it for the first time just last week. I still keep going back to play because of how much fun it is.
The gba is capable of good music, it just takes effort on the developers part. Listen to the megaman battle network or golden sun games osts to see what i mean
its based off of sonic 3 this had the modern design but they forgor to change the eyes color to red so they made it look like classic super sonic from 3 and knuckles
