The Japanese plane that participated in World War II is the Mitsubishi A6M Zero, also known as the "Zeke" by Allied intelligence². They were designed by the famous aircraft designer Jiro Horikoshi. The aircraft was exceptionally fast and agile, allowing Japanese pilots to outperform older Allied aircraft, and had a long range suitable for the Pacific theater of operations².🇮🇶🌹🙏🇯🇵
Born 1960 WW 2 was still fresh on everyone's minds, as a kid listening to the adults talk about japz and krauts, the economy was booming thanks to all the brave men who sacrificed all to show what it means to be an American, as a kid we'd pledge allegiance to the USA, hand over heart, it's a shame that the war is mostly forgotten, this airplane was one of my favorites, along with the P38 lightning. God bless all who served and to those who serve today. 🇺🇸
I knew Dave when we both were flying for American Eagle/Wings West Airlines out of LAX. We at LAX were a fairly small group of crew members so we all knew each other, almost like an extended family. While I can’t recall flying together, he’d approach me from time to time with questions in the crew lounge or swapping aircraft at out stations. He was a good guy, knowledgeable, a “good stick”, a good Joe.
My Uncle flew P-40’s. So great to hear Alison talk. Does anyone know if Alison ever attended World War II Weekend in Reading, Pennsylvania at The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum? Im curious because Philip Cochran was born in Erie, PA. I remember seeing Alison’s memorial on a School Field trip.
Shame on you for putting music in that. We don't care about that! What we care about is the sound of the engine. And the real sounds. We're Aviation Enthusiasts.
Funfact: the Mossie could deliver the same bombload to Berlin as a B-17 but it would be half way back in the Uk before the B-17 got to Berlin. An incredibly versatile aircraft. One version had a huge cannon fitted to sink U Boats. The USAAF had many Mosquitoes for various tasks.
