What started out as a channel on "how to make it in the Hollywood" with the occasional cover song, eventually turned into a platform to help other artists. I want to help you overcoming obstacles from just starting out in the industry, to battling a disability, to being a new mom, to struggling to make money as artist while maintaining your integrity. I'm here to prove that those things can work in your favor and being a working artist doesn't need to be a struggle. On top of that, after becoming a Multiple Sclerosis Survivor, I’ve also a dedicated a playlist where to help find a cure for auto-immune diseases via stem cell through my music, words, art and speech. Become a part of the movement and subscribe now!
This is a job. For a real professional, it doesn't matter whether he/she is married or single. How many sex scenes did you shoot? If there was nudity, did you use any body double?
I hear you, but it goes against my values. If I play a bad guy and I murder someone in a movie, at the end of the day, no one got hurt. If I do a “sex” scene, my lips have touched another’s and can’t undo that. Kissing is one thing, but other stuff-it would have to be choreographed by an intimacy coordinated
@@kristenhenryking When a scene requires that you have to drink alcohol or smoke a cigarette, your lips also touch them and you also can’t undo that. I see no difference. That's just acting. And yes, intimacy coordinator is a "must".
That’s beautiful! I started acting at 30… I’m 38. Booked non union stuff. I’m sag eligible bc I booked my first tv show last year, Covid gave me a hard stop for 2years and I’ve been trying to figure out how to afford a life while being a working actor. Sometimes I wish I would’ve started younger but I’m here now and that’s all that matters…It’s still a whole journey 😅❤
I came across you channel today. I appreciate this and the other videos. Thank You! I am a Chicago actor. Are you going to make anymore videos? Hopefully you are busy beeing a full time actor and don't have the time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help us all move forward in our careers. You're a joy and a blessing. I do have one question When it comes to links should I include my IMDBPro link?
This was amazing. Thank you, Kristen. I learned so much and look forward to learning more from parts 2 & 3. I am running into a problem though. I'm having a problem finding a celebrity that is my type. If I cut my faux locs then I would have an easier search, but a celebrity with my height, build, and dreads is hard to find. People always tell me that I remind them of Will Smith, but we physically don't look anything alike. I'm at a loss from here. Can you help?
Thank you for your advice. All of this has helped me out sooo much. Prayerfully it’s paid off enough that we can work together some day. I know I can learn so much from just being in a scene with you or watching you work your craft and professionalism on set. Thanks again
I have multiple sclerosis. Mob sclerosis destroys the mind sheath the immune system turns on your own body after 12 years I am now in a wheelchair. This is the worst but this video is a lift up for all of us with MS.
Two questions: what's the difference between the cover letter and the body of the email? And how do they know the actor didn't hire someone to write the letter (because that's what I did for example)?
There is no difference. I say cover letter because it used to be hard copy and then you mail in your headshot with your cover letter on top. But now it’s email. And of course they wouldn’t know. You could have chat GPT write it. Just make sure each letter is different and not rote. Know who you are talking to.
I have a course coming out for that. But the short answer is actually a question. Is that your “type?” In which case I would do your research and see what celeb is most like you and copy their wardrobe from their headshot for your headshot.
When I became an extra the first 4 movies I worked on gave me a voucher so I got four. Then another one later on on a different movie. I finally decided to join SAG I tried asking people before joining if it was worth it some sag extras said yes and non union people told me no. (Idk if it was cuz they were jealous) Anyway I decided to join because I guess I realized I was lucky and took it as a sign to go for it. I guess I’m just asking for advice? any thoughts
Yes to SAG extra work over non union! First off it’s 3x the pay grade, secondly you get health insurance and pension depending how much you make! Good job!
Amanda is fair. But I see what you mean by hair? What color are your eyes? The ultramarine looked great on everyone especially Amanda with her blue eyes.
It was so hard to find a video just like this, you saved me by just getting right to the point and showing by example for each different size thank you so much!!
What does that matter? The casting director asked them to tape themselves, they didn’t go in an office. That is by definition a SELF-TAPE. How you get it done is up to you
